Quick answer
- Best Antigua all-inclusive resorts for 2026: Hermitage Bay (32 villas, Tripadvisor 4.8) for boutique luxury, Hammock Cove (4.8) for a private-pool splurge, Galley Bay (4.7 from 4,777 reviews) for the best beach for adults, and Curtain Bluff (4.8) for families who want luxury.
- Best value adults-only: Cocobay (65 rooms, 4.6) and Keyonna Beach (4.7); both include drinks and are far cheaper than the big three luxury resorts.
- Liveliest: Sandals Grande Antigua (373 rooms) and the newer adults-only Royalton CHIC Antigua, both on Dickenson Bay, about 15 minutes from the airport.
- Best months: December to April. February and March are driest (about 1.8 inches of rain each); September to November are wettest (5.2 to 5.6 inches) and fall in hurricane season.
- 2026 changes: Royalton's Antigua lineup is now Royalton Antigua plus the adults-only Royalton CHIC; Starfish Jolly Beach now trades as Jolly Beach Antigua (Tripadvisor 3.6); The Verandah is adults-only (16+) and will close August 15 to September 30, 2027 for renovations.
- The "365 beaches" line is the tourism board's claim for Antigua and Barbuda together; for a resort stay, what matters is whether your resort faces the calm Caribbean side or the breezy Atlantic side.
Our verdict
Our verdict: Antigua rewards couples who spend a little more
Antigua does small, adults-only all-inclusives better than any other Caribbean island, so that is where we would spend the money. Hermitage Bay is our overall pick: 32 villas on a secluded west-coast bay, each with a private pool or hot tub, a 4.8 Tripadvisor score from 1,982 reviews and two years of MICHELIN Keys. If you want even more privacy and do not mind a quieter beach, Hammock Cove (50 villas with infinity plunge pools) is the splurge. Galley Bay is the better buy for most couples: a three-quarter-mile beach, 98 rooms and a 4.7 rating at lower prices than the top two. On a tighter budget, Cocobay and Keyonna Beach deliver most of the charm for far less. Families should book Curtain Bluff if they can afford it and St. James's Club if they cannot. We would skip the budget end of the island, where ratings fall fast. These opinions come from Tripadvisor review patterns, official resort details and published 2026 prices, not paid stays.

Where to stay in Antigua: the coasts compared
Antigua is small (you can drive across it in under an hour), but the coast you pick changes the trip more than the resort brand does.
| Area | Feel | Water | All-inclusives |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dickenson Bay (northwest) | Busiest, closest to St. John's and the airport | Calm, long beach | Sandals Grande Antigua, Royalton CHIC Antigua |
| Five Islands and Deep Bay (west) | Quiet coves and peninsulas | Calm Caribbean side | Galley Bay, Royalton Antigua |
| Jennings to Valley Church (west) | Secluded bays, sunsets | Calm, reef in places | Hermitage Bay, Cocobay |
| Johnson's Point and Old Road (southwest and south) | Remote, rural, big beaches | Calm to moderate | Keyonna Beach, Curtain Bluff |
| Mamora Bay and English Harbour (south) | Historic sailing area, Shirley Heights | Sheltered bay | St. James's Club |
| Long Bay and Devil's Bridge (east) | Atlantic coast, breezy, very quiet | Reef-protected bays, rougher outside them | Pineapple Beach Club, Hammock Cove, The Verandah |
How to choose a coast
- Want restaurants, bars and a short transfer? Dickenson Bay. Royalton CHIC is about 15 minutes from V.C. Bird International Airport.
- Want calm water and sunsets? Anywhere on the west coast, from Five Islands down to Johnson's Point.
- Want history and the Sunday sunset party at Shirley Heights? The south coast near English Harbour.
- Want trade winds and total quiet? The east coast, but accept a breezier sea and a longer drive to everything else.

1Best overall
Hermitage Bay
Hermitage Bay, west coast (Jennings, St. Mary's)
$2,351–$5,422 per night for two · Tripadvisor partner average for a standard room, per night before taxes and fees, checked October 2026
Our take
Hermitage Bay is the Antigua resort we would book first. It sits alone on its own bay on the west coast, with 32 villas scattered between the hillside and the shore, every one with a private pool or hot tub. Tripadvisor rates it 4.8 from 1,982 reviews, the MICHELIN Guide has awarded it Two Keys two years running, and Condé Nast Traveler has recognized it across the Hot List, Gold List and Readers' Choice Awards. The entire resort was refurbished in 2024.
The all-inclusive rate is generous: breakfast, lunch and dinner from daily-changing menus, afternoon snacks, sushi and canapés at cocktail hour and unlimited cocktails, plus non-motorized water sports and complimentary private airport transfers with fast-track arrival. Deluxe spirits and the full wine list cost extra, and you can also book bed-and-breakfast. The downsides are price, a modest gym, and design quirks such as open-plan bathrooms that some couples dislike. It is adults-only, although teenagers over 14 are allowed, so you may see the odd family. Book a Hillside or Beach Pool villa, and expect a quiet, food-focused week rather than nightlife.
Skip it if You want nightlife, lots of restaurants or a big pool scene.
Our category scores
Pros
- Tripadvisor 4.8 and two MICHELIN Keys

- Open-plan bathrooms in some villas
- Deluxe spirits and wine list cost extra

- Rates
- All-inclusive or bed-and-breakfast
- Age policy
- Adults-only; teens over 14 welcome

What guests say
Hermitage Bay exceeded every expectation we brought with us.
the beach was everything we were looking for (clear water, reefs, fish, etc).
The strangest thing is the bathroom being open plan to the bedroom/living area.

2Best splurge
Hammock Cove Antigua
East coast near Devil's Bridge National Park
$750–$1,400 per night for two · Published nightly range on all-inclusive-guide.com (updated July 2026); occupancy not stated
Our take
Hammock Cove is the resort for couples who want maximum privacy and service and are willing to pay for it. All 50 accommodations are villas with their own infinity-edge plunge pools, and there are three restaurants, three bars and a three-tier infinity pool. Tripadvisor reviewers give it 4.8 from 510 reviews, with perfect 5.0 sub-scores for rooms, service and cleanliness, which is as close to complaint-free as Caribbean resorts get. Elite Island Resorts has also introduced new Signature Villas.
We rank it just behind Hermitage Bay for two reasons. First, its setting on the Atlantic-facing east coast near Devil's Bridge is dramatic but breezier, and the resort is built around its villas and pools more than a long swimming beach. Second, three restaurants can feel limited on a longer stay, and the northeast is far from Antigua's other sights. Value is its lowest Tripadvisor sub-score at 4.5. If you plan to spend most of the week in your own villa pool and want staff who learn your name on day one, nothing on the island beats it.
Skip it if A long, calm swimming beach is your priority.
Our category scores
Pros
- Every villa has an infinity plunge pool
- Near-perfect Tripadvisor sub-scores
- New Signature Villas
- About 25 minutes from the airport
Cons
- Breezier Atlantic-side setting

- Accommodation
- 50 villas with infinity plunge pools
- Dining

What guests say
Being able to take a dip in our own private infinity pool every morning was the best way to start the day.
We feel like we are coming home to our Antigua family
The few lower scores are about value rather than quality; one spring 2026 reviewer dropped a star over a safety concern and the bumpy road out to the resort.
3Best beach for adults
Galley Bay Resort & Spa
Five Islands, west coast
$500–$900 per night for two · Published nightly range on all-inclusive-guide.com (updated July 2026); occupancy not stated
Our take
Galley Bay is the Antigua all-inclusive we recommend to most couples. It is adults-only, has 98 rooms on a beach about three-quarters of a mile long, with a saltwater lagoon and bird sanctuary behind it, and scores 4.7 on Tripadvisor from 4,777 reviews, plus 9.4 out of 10 on Expedia. That is a big, consistent sample, and the themes are clear: scenic beachfront, a calm and peaceful mood, roomy accommodation, spotless housekeeping and attentive staff.
Room choice matters. Premium Beachfront Suites (645 square feet) and Superior Deluxe Beachfront Rooms put you steps from the sand, and the thatched Gauguin Cottages between the beach and lagoon have plunge pools. Food gets strong reviews, from the beach lunches to Ismay's, the fine-dining room. The criticism is mild but real: evening entertainment is thin, service can be slow at busy times, and some guests mention extra fees and high prices. That is the trade-off for a resort this quiet. If you want to wake up, walk onto a beautiful beach and do very little for a week, it is better value than Hermitage Bay or Hammock Cove.
Skip it if You want nightlife or a big, social pool scene.
Our category scores
Pros
- Three-quarter-mile west-coast beach with a lagoon behind it
- 4.7 on Tripadvisor from 4,777 reviews

What guests say
The premium beachfront suite room was amazing. Walked right from our patio onto the beach.
The food from breakfast to dinner was excellent and we enjoyed in a nice comfortable atmosphere.
The evening entertainment leaves a lot to be desired.

4Best for families
Curtain Bluff
Old Road, south coast
$1,210–$1,940 per night for two · Curtain Bluff published rate sheet: $1,210 (spring 2026) to $1,940 (Jan–Apr 2026) a night for two, before 10% service charge, 17% tax and levy; checked October 2026
Our take
Curtain Bluff is Antigua's classic luxury all-inclusive and the best family resort on the island. It has 72 rooms and suites on a rocky promontory on the south coast with the Caribbean on both sides, so you get a calm beach and a livelier surf beach. The rate includes all meals and nearly all activities, and the CEE BEE Kids Camp keeps children busy while parents use the tennis courts, water sports and spa. Tripadvisor rates it 4.8 from 852 reviews, and reviewers single out the food and staff again and again; many are repeat guests.
It is not flawless. A January 2026 reviewer was surprised by how shabby and dated parts of the property looked, others mention slow service at times, evening music, and rocky, seaweed-strewn water near the shore on some days. It is also expensive and far from the airport, and the resort closes for part of the year (its website promotes a "fall reopening" offer), so check dates if you are traveling in late summer or early fall. If your family wants an old-school, food-first resort with real activities rather than a water park, this is the one.
Skip it if You want a modern design hotel or a short transfer.
Our category scores
Pros
- Kids' camp plus serious tennis and water sports
- Food and staff praised in almost every review
- Two beaches on a private promontory
- All meals and nearly all activities included
Cons
- Some areas look dated
- Closes seasonally in late summer or fall
- Long drive from the airport
- Rooms
- 72 rooms and suites (Beach Front, Bluff and Pool Suites)
- Kids
- CEE BEE Kids Camp
- Dining
- The Sea Grape, The Tamarind, The Wine Cellar
- Included
- All meals and nearly all activities
What guests say
Best food and staff of any resort I have gone to
The food even passed my 9 year old's very rigorous chicken nugget test.
In reality, we were a little surprised by how shabby and dated much of the property looked like.

5Best for a lively scene
Sandals Grande Antigua
Dickenson Bay, northwest coast
$600–$1,200 per night for two · Published nightly range on all-inclusive-guide.com (updated July 2026); occupancy not stated
Our take
Sandals Grande Antigua is the pick for couples who want an adults-only all-inclusive with energy: 373 rooms, more than a dozen bars and restaurants, multiple pools, nightly entertainment and 24-hour room service on Dickenson Bay, which Sandals calls the longest beach on the island. Tripadvisor rates it 4.2 from 11,945 reviews, so it is popular rather than flawless.
The pattern in recent reviews is consistent. Food and cocktails get real praise, rooms are usually spacious and clean, and refurbished Sunset Bluff club-level rooms are described as beautifully done. But some rooms feel dated, housekeeping can be inconsistent, and some guests mention construction noise and loud music. Sandals includes airport transfers, and its no-tipping policy simplifies the week. Book a refurbished club-level or butler category rather than an entry room, and you will get most of what makes Sandals work. Couples who want quiet should look at Galley Bay instead; those who want the brand's full menu of restaurants and activities in Antigua should book here. Our Sandals guide compares it with the brand's other islands.
Skip it if You want a small, quiet resort.
Our category scores
Pros
- Dickenson Bay, a long, calm beach
- Over a dozen bars and restaurants
- Transfers included; tipping discouraged
- Close to St. John's and the airport
Cons
- Some older rooms feel dated
- Inconsistent housekeeping and service in reviews
- Can be noisy (music, construction)
- Rooms
- 373
- Dining
- Over a dozen bars and restaurants
- Included
- All meals, drinks, nightly entertainment, 24-hour room service, transfers
- Beach
- Dickenson Bay
What guests say
The food and cocktails were amazing - Eleanor's rack of lamb was just something else!
The housekeeping was marginable and very inconsistent.
Guests often call rooms spacious and clean and praise the grounds, but some find them dated, report friendly but inconsistent service, and mention construction noise and high prices with extra charges.

6Best value adults-only
Cocobay Resort
Valley Church, west coast
Our take
Cocobay is the adults-only all-inclusive we recommend when the budget will not stretch to Galley Bay. Its 65 cottage-style rooms climb a hillside above Valley Church and Ffryes bays on the sunset side of the island, there are four pools, and the rate includes three meals plus afternoon bites or tea, all drinks by the glass, Wi-Fi, taxes and gratuities. Tripadvisor rates it 4.6 from 3,549 reviews, and guests rave about the 360-degree views, friendly staff and a cooked-to-order menu that changes daily.
Know what you are buying. This is a hillside resort with steps everywhere, the rooms are simple and some feel dated, there is no room service, and portions can be small. The beach below is public rather than private, though reviewers describe it as lovely, with chairs and shallow water. The famous Sheer Rocks restaurant is on the property but costs extra. If you want romance, sunsets and an inclusive bar tab without luxury pricing, Cocobay is excellent value. If you have mobility issues or want a resort beach outside your door, choose Keyonna Beach or Galley Bay instead.
Skip it if You have limited mobility or want a private resort beach.
Our category scores
Pros
- Gratuities, taxes and drinks by the glass included
- Spectacular sunset views
- Friendly, attentive staff
- Far cheaper than Antigua's luxury resorts
Cons
- Steep paths and many steps
- Simple, sometimes dated rooms; no room service
- Small portions; Sheer Rocks costs extra
- Rooms
- 65 cottages
- Pools
- 4
- Restaurants
- 4, including Rafters and Sheer Rocks (extra charge)
- Included
- 3 meals, afternoon bites or tea, drinks by the glass, Wi-Fi, taxes, gratuities
What guests say
The views are stunning 360*, the food is amazing, and the staff is so friendly and inviting.
The public beach, just down the steps, has chairs and beautiful shallow water.
the portions are extremely small

7Best small beach resort
Keyonna Beach
Johnson's Point, southwest coast
Our take
Keyonna Beach is a small, adults-only all-inclusive on one of Antigua's best stretches of sand at Johnson's Point, and it is the resort we would book for a genuinely do-nothing week. Tripadvisor rates it 4.7 from 1,838 reviews, and the review summary highlights a serene atmosphere, comfortable rooms, excellent value, spotless cleanliness and attentive service. Reviewers describe pure white sand, very clear water and, at least in summer 2026, no seaweed.
It is simple by design. There are few activities, dining is the weak point (one August 2026 guest found lunch and dinner exceptionally slow, and others say food does not always meet expectations), and some rooms pick up noise from the coastal road. Tripadvisor lists 45 rooms, though guests mention around 50 cottages, so expect a resort where you see the same faces every day. It is also a long drive from the airport. Choose Keyonna for the beach, the quiet and the price. Choose Galley Bay if you want the same quiet with better food, or Cocobay if you prefer views over beachfront.
Skip it if You want lots of restaurants, entertainment or activities.
Our category scores
Pros
- One of the best beaches on the island
- Small, quiet and adults-only
- Strong value for an inclusive rate
- Reviewers praise cleanliness and staff
Cons
- Slow and uneven dining at times
- Some road noise
- Few activities; long airport transfer
- Size
- About 45 rooms (Tripadvisor listing)
- Policy
- Adults-only, all-inclusive
- Beach
- Johnson's Point
- Location
- Southwest coast, near Old Road
What guests say
Pure white sand, water so clear you can see the sandy bottom and no seaweed anywhere to be seen.
We had the most fantastic week of doing nothing in this wonderful resort.
Lunch and Dinner was exceptionally slow.

8Best mid-range adults-only
Pineapple Beach Club
Long Bay, east coast
$400–$700 per night for two · Published nightly range on all-inclusive-guide.com (updated July 2026); occupancy not stated
Our take
Pineapple Beach Club is the mid-priced, adults-only (16+) all-inclusive for couples who want a relaxed beach week without luxury prices. It has 180 rooms on reef-sheltered Long Bay on the east coast, and Tripadvisor rates it 4.2 from 6,061 reviews. Repeat guests are its biggest fans: they praise the staff, the location and the laid-back mood, and Elite Island Resorts has been promoting a "reimagined" Pineapple Beach Club in 2026.
The reviews are more mixed than at its sister resorts Galley Bay and Hammock Cove. Some guests mention noise, inconsistent service and maintenance issues, and while some call the price reasonable, others say extra charges add up. The east coast also means trade winds and a long drive to Dickenson Bay or English Harbour. We would book Pineapple for a good-value, adults-only week with a beach outside the door, and choose an ocean-view or beachfront room. If you can stretch your budget, Galley Bay is noticeably better; if you want even lower prices on the west coast, look at Cocobay.
Skip it if You want luxury-level food and rooms.
Our category scores
Pros
- Adults-only at mid-range prices
- Reef-sheltered bay on the east coast
- Loyal repeat guests and friendly staff
- Refreshed resort promoted for 2026
Cons
- Mixed reports on service and maintenance
- Extra charges noted by some guests
- Breezy, remote east-coast location

What guests say
Absolutely stunning as always! Staff are amazing, perfect location, great place to chill.
I’m afraid it falls way short of what I expected.
The food, especially the pizza at the Pelican bar was delicious.
9Best mid-range family resort
St. James's Club & Villas
Mamora Bay, south coast
$380–$700 per night for two · Published nightly range on all-inclusive-guide.com (updated July 2026); occupancy not stated
Our take
St. James's Club is the Antigua all-inclusive we suggest for families who cannot justify Curtain Bluff prices. It sits on its own peninsula at Mamora Bay on the south coast, with 280 rooms, several pools, a supervised kids' club, babysitting and family rooms, and it is close to English Harbour and Shirley Heights. Tripadvisor rates it 4.2 from 5,148 reviews, and Elite Island Resorts says 2026 brings renovated suites, new beachfront rooms and updated dining.
The reviews describe a mixed value proposition. Guests like the dining variety, the number of pools and the spacious, clean rooms, and many families say it works for couples and kids alike. The complaints are about restaurant closures and limited opening hours, maintenance in older areas, extra charges (Piccolo Mondo, the Italian restaurant, costs extra) and inconsistent service. Its seclusion is a plus or minus depending on whether you want to explore. One July 2026 reviewer was also disappointed by the sea in front of the resort, so swimmers should ask for a room near the calmer beach. Book it for a sensible, mid-priced family week; book Curtain Bluff if you want everything to be excellent.
Skip it if You want a luxury experience or the best beach on the island.
Our category scores
Pros
- Kids' club, babysitting and family rooms
- Several pools and plenty of dining choice
- Renovated suites and beachfront rooms for 2026
- Near English Harbour and Shirley Heights
Cons
- Restaurant closures and limited schedules reported
- Extra charges, including Piccolo Mondo
- Sea conditions disappointed some guests
- Rooms
- 280
- Kids
- Supervised kids' club, babysitting, family rooms
- New in 2026
- Renovated suites, beachfront rooms and dining
- Location

What guests say
It’s a perfect place for couples and families alike.
You go to the Caribbean for the sea so this was incredibly disappointing.
Guests praise the dining variety, the many pools, the beachfront setting and clean, spacious rooms, but report restaurant closures, limited schedules, some outdated maintenance, extra costs and inconsistent service.
10Best party resort
Royalton CHIC Antigua, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort
Dickenson Bay, northwest coast
Our take
Royalton CHIC Antigua is the newest big all-inclusive on the island and the only one built around a party. It is adults-only (18+), sits on Dickenson Bay about 15 minutes from the airport, and has 235 rooms and suites, seven restaurants, five bars, pool parties with DJs, themed nights and overwater bungalows with butler service. Pescari, which the resort bills as Antigua's only overwater restaurant, costs extra. It earns and redeems Marriott Bonvoy points.
Tripadvisor rates it 4.1 from 1,731 reviews, and the pattern is clear: people love the beachfront, the lively atmosphere, the pools and entertainment, and find the property well maintained, but they report inconsistent service, mixed cleanliness, basic rooms, noise and premium pricing for what you get. That makes it a good fit for groups, singles and couples who want music and energy, and a poor fit for anyone who booked Antigua for peace and quiet. If you want Dickenson Bay without the party, Sandals Grande next door is calmer; if you want quiet, go to the west coast.
Skip it if You want a quiet, romantic resort.

Unfortunately, the experience didn’t fully match the quality of the surroundings.
11Best for Marriott families
Royalton Antigua, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort
Deep Bay, Five Islands peninsula, west coast
Our take
Royalton Antigua is the most conventional family all-inclusive on the island: 294 suites, 8 restaurants, 5 bars, 3 pools, a splash pad, a kids' club for ages 4 to 12 and a teens' club, plus overwater bungalows for couples who want to splurge. It sits on the Five Islands peninsula near Deep Bay, about 30 minutes from the airport, and it earns and redeems Marriott Bonvoy points, which is the main reason many Americans book it.
The reviews are the weakest on our list. Tripadvisor rates it 3.8 from 5,174 reviews; guests like the beachfront, the views, the variety of activities and the spacious rooms, but say it is pricey for what you get, with mixed cleanliness, noise and inconsistent service. One October 2026 reviewer said that even at half occupancy the restaurants struggled to serve warm food on time. We include it because Antigua has so few family all-inclusives and because points can make it very cheap. If you are paying cash, St. James's Club is usually the better mid-range family choice, and Curtain Bluff is the better resort outright.
Skip it if You are paying cash and want reliable service.
Our category scores

Pros & cons
Antigua for an all-inclusive: why go, why not
Reasons to go
- The best selection of small, adults-only all-inclusives in the Caribbean
- Calm, clear west-coast beaches and reliable winter sunshine
- Direct flights from several US hubs on four US airlines
- Short transfers from V.C. Bird to Dickenson Bay and the west coast
- Real things to do beyond the resort: English Harbour, Shirley Heights, Stingray City
Reasons to think twice
- More expensive than Jamaica or Punta Cana for comparable resorts
- Few great family all-inclusives besides Curtain Bluff
- In the main hurricane track; wettest from September to November
- Atlantic-side resorts are breezy and can see sargassum
- Tourism Guest Levy and premium-drink extras add to the bill
Best adults-only all-inclusive resorts in Antigua
Eight of our 11 picks are adults-only, which tells you what Antigua is best at. They split into three price bands:
Luxury: Hermitage Bay, Hammock Cove, Galley Bay
- Hermitage Bay is adults-only (teenagers over 14 are welcome) with 32 villas, each with a private pool or hot tub, and an all-inclusive rate that covers three meals, afternoon snacks, canapés and sushi at cocktail hour, and "limitless" cocktails, with deluxe brands and the full wine list extra (Hermitage Bay Q&A).
- Hammock Cove has 50 villas, all with infinity plunge pools, and the highest service scores on the island.
- Galley Bay is an all-inclusive, adults-only resort of 98 rooms on a long beach at Five Islands, with Gauguin cottages that have plunge pools (Galley Bay).
Mid-range: Sandals Grande Antigua, Pineapple Beach Club, The Verandah, Royalton CHIC
These are bigger and livelier. Sandals Grande Antigua has 373 rooms on Dickenson Bay; Pineapple Beach Club (180 rooms) and The Verandah (186 rooms) are both 16-plus on the east coast; Royalton CHIC Antigua (235 rooms, 18-plus) is the party option.
Value: Cocobay and Keyonna Beach
Both are small, relaxed and drinks-inclusive. Cocobay's views are the selling point; Keyonna's beach is.
For more adults-only choices across the region, see our adults-only all-inclusive guide.

Family all-inclusive resorts in Antigua
Antigua has fewer family all-inclusives than Jamaica or Punta Cana, but the three it has cover every budget:
- Curtain Bluff (luxury): 72 rooms and suites on a promontory on the south coast with a beach on each side, the CEE BEE Kids Camp, and a rate that includes all meals and nearly all activities (Curtain Bluff). Families praise the food and water sports; one parent noted it passed a nine-year-old's "chicken nugget test".
- St. James's Club & Villas (mid-range): 280 rooms on Mamora Bay with several pools, a supervised kids' club and renovated suites and beachfront rooms for 2026, according to Elite Island Resorts.
- Royalton Antigua (Marriott Autograph Collection): 294 suites, 8 restaurants, 3 pools, overwater bungalows, a kids' club for ages 4 to 12 and a teens' club, about 30 minutes from the airport (Royalton).
Our take: Curtain Bluff is the one family resort in Antigua with consistently excellent reviews. St. James's Club and Royalton Antigua work, but both draw complaints about inconsistent service and extra charges. If kids' programming is the priority, compare them with Beaches Turks & Caicos and our family all-inclusive guide.
Cocobay Resort all-inclusive: what is actually included
Cocobay is one of the most searched Antigua resorts, so here is what its all-inclusive plan covers, per its WestJet Vacations listing:
- Accommodation in one of 65 cottage-style rooms
- Breakfast, lunch, afternoon bar bites or tea, and dinner
- All drinks by the glass
- Wi-Fi
- Government tax and gratuities
- Pools, daybeds and non-motorized water sports
Sheer Rocks, the cliffside restaurant that made Cocobay famous, is not included and costs extra. The resort is adults-only, sits on a hillside above Valley Church and Ffryes bays on the west coast, and has four pools and four restaurants (WestJet Vacations).
What reviewers say: views and staff are excellent, and the daily-changing, cooked-to-order menu is a highlight, but portions can be small, there is no room service, some rooms feel dated, and the beach is a public one down the steps rather than a private stretch. Tripadvisor rates it 4.6 from 3,549 reviews. If you can live with stairs and a simple room, it is one of the best-value adults-only all-inclusives in the Caribbean.

Antigua's "365 beaches": which ones matter for resort guests
The tourism board's line is "One destination. Two islands. 365 beaches" (Visit Antigua & Barbuda). It counts both Antigua and Barbuda, and it is a marketing number rather than a survey. For an all-inclusive stay, the useful question is which beaches are good, calm and close to your resort.
- Dickenson Bay (Sandals Grande, Royalton CHIC): long, calm and busy, with water sports and beach bars. Sandals calls it the longest beach on the island.
- Galley Bay and Deep Bay (Galley Bay, Royalton Antigua): quieter west-coast sand. Galley Bay's beach is long but can get surf at times; the resort runs a flag system, so check it before swimming.
- Hermitage Bay (Hermitage Bay): a private-feeling cove with reefs and fish; one 2026 reviewer called it everything they were looking for.
- Johnson's Point and Ffryes (Keyonna Beach, Cocobay): wide white sand and very clear water on calm days.
- Long Bay (Pineapple Beach Club): an Atlantic-side bay protected by a reef.
- Half Moon Bay: a public beach on the east coast worth a day trip, but often wavy.
Sargassum seaweed affects the Atlantic side more than the west coast, and some Curtain Bluff reviewers mention rocky, seaweed-strewn water near the shore on certain days. If a pristine sea is non-negotiable, pick a west-coast resort and check recent guest photos before you go.
Best time to visit Antigua for an all-inclusive
Antigua is warm all year, with average highs from about 83°F in January to 88°F in August and September at V.C. Bird International Airport, according to Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services data. The difference between months is rain and price, not temperature.
- December to April (peak): driest and most expensive. February and March average about 1.8 inches of rain each.
- Late April and early May: Antigua Sailing Week fills the English Harbour area; the south coast gets busy and lively.
- May to July (shoulder): good value, more humidity, still mostly sunny. Carnival runs in late July and early August.
- August to November (low): cheapest, and the heart of hurricane season. September to November are the wettest months, at 5.2 to 5.6 inches each. Some resorts close for part of this period: Curtain Bluff advertises a "fall reopening", and The Verandah will close for renovations from August 15 to September 30, 2027.
The Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, peaking around September 10 (NOAA). Antigua sits in the main storm track, so buy travel insurance if you travel between August and October.

Getting there: V.C. Bird airport and transfer times
All international flights land at V.C. Bird International Airport (ANU) on the northeast side of St. John's. From the US, American Airlines, Delta, United and JetBlue run direct or connecting service (Visit Antigua & Barbuda). Typical flight times are about 4 hours from New York, 3 hours from Miami and 3.5 to 4 hours from Charlotte or Atlanta.
Transfer times we found on official and tour-operator pages:
| Resort | Transfer from ANU | Included? |
|---|---|---|
| Royalton CHIC Antigua | About 15 minutes | Yes (round-trip transfers listed) |
| Hammock Cove | About 25 minutes | Check your booking |
| Royalton Antigua | About 30 minutes | Yes (round-trip transfers listed) |
| Hermitage Bay | About 35 minutes | Yes, private, with fast-track arrival |
| Sandals Grande Antigua | Short drive to Dickenson Bay | Yes |
Resorts on the south coast (Curtain Bluff, St. James's Club, Keyonna Beach) are the farthest from the airport. If your resort does not include transfers, taxis run on published zone fares from the airport.

What's new in 2026: openings, rebrands and closures
- Royalton CHIC Antigua is now Royalton's adults-only (18-plus) resort on Dickenson Bay: 235 rooms and suites, 7 restaurants, 5 bars, overwater bungalows and Pescari, which the resort calls the island's only overwater restaurant (extra charge). Royalton's own resort list now shows only two Antigua properties, Royalton Antigua and Royalton CHIC Antigua; the separately branded Hideaway at Royalton Antigua no longer appears.
- Starfish Jolly Beach now trades as Jolly Beach Antigua. Its Tripadvisor listing (3.6 from 486 reviews) notes the former name; reviewers describe basic rooms, construction and cooling-tower noise, and extra charges for room cleaning. We left it off our list.
- The Verandah is now marketed as adults-only (16+), with 186 rooms, 5 restaurants and 3 pools, and will close for renovations from August 15 to September 30, 2027 (WestJet Vacations). It is open in the meantime.
- Hermitage Bay refurbished every villa, public space and its spa in 2024, adds a three-bedroom Sanctuary Villa in fall 2026 and a new Hermitage Villa in 2027.
- Hammock Cove has launched new Signature Villas, and Pineapple Beach Club and St. James's Club both promote refreshed rooms in 2026 videos from Elite Island Resorts.

Costs, tipping and the Tourism Guest Levy
Antigua is a mid-to-high-priced all-inclusive island, and the luxury end costs more than many lists suggest. Curtain Bluff's own rate sheet prices its entry-level Deluxe Ocean View room, all-inclusive for two, at $1,210 a night in spring 2026, $1,345 from November 2026 and $1,940 in the January to April 2026 winter season, before a 10% service charge, 17% government tax and the guest levy (Curtain Bluff). Hermitage Bay does not publish rates on its website; The Points Guy's June 2025 review put them at about $1,800 a night for two in low season and above $3,000 at peak; Tripadvisor partner averages in October 2026 ran about $2,350–$5,400 a night for a standard room, before taxes (The Points Guy).
The rest of the island is far cheaper. Rough 2026 nightly ranges for two run about $280 to $450 at budget resorts such as Jolly Beach, $350 to $700 at mid-range resorts such as St. James's Club and The Verandah, and $500 to $1,200 at Sandals Grande and Galley Bay, depending on season (a 2026 rate roundup shows similar bands). Treat these as starting points and price your own dates, because Elite Island and Sandals sales move them a lot.
Extra costs to budget for
- Tourism Guest Levy: up to $5 per person per night for guests aged six and up, paid by credit card at the hotel; the amount depends on the hotel's category.
- Tips: Sandals discourages tipping. At other resorts, $2 to $5 per round of drinks and $5 to $10 for a sit-down meal is common. Cocobay includes gratuities in its rate.
- Premium extras: deluxe spirits and wine lists (Hermitage Bay), Sheer Rocks (Cocobay), Pescari (Royalton CHIC) and à la carte restaurants such as Piccolo Mondo at St. James's Club cost extra.
- Excursions: Stingray City, catamaran days, and the Sunday party at Shirley Heights are the classics.
Watch for Elite Island Resorts sales (Galley Bay, Hammock Cove, Pineapple Beach Club, St. James's Club and The Verandah) and Sandals' frequent promotions on our deals page.

Mistakes to avoid when booking an Antigua all-inclusive
- Booking the east coast for swimming. It is beautiful but breezy; west-coast resorts have calmer water.
- Assuming every drink is included. Several luxury resorts charge for premium spirits and bottled wine, and some signature restaurants cost extra.
- Ignoring the room category. At Sandals Grande Antigua, refurbished club-level rooms draw praise while some older rooms draw complaints. At Cocobay, rooms are simple and stairs are part of the deal.
- Forgetting seasonal closures. Check whether your resort closes in late summer or fall, and whether nearby construction is planned.
- Trusting old names. Hideaway at Royalton Antigua and Starfish Jolly Beach no longer exist under those names.
- Underestimating transfer time to the south coast. Curtain Bluff, Keyonna Beach and St. James's Club are the farthest resorts from the airport.

What travel-forum regulars say
Travel-forum consensus
Across Tripadvisor reviews and forum discussions, Antigua regulars repeat the same few rules. First, choose the coast before the resort: west-coast regulars at Keyonna Beach and Hermitage Bay talk about calm, clear water, while east-coast guests talk about breezes and reefs. Second, small beats big on this island: the highest-rated resorts all have fewer than 100 rooms, while the large Royalton and Jolly Beach properties draw the most complaints about service and maintenance. Third, read the rate, because premium drinks, signature restaurants and room service are often extra. Repeat guests are unusually loyal here; reviews of Pineapple Beach Club ("stunning as always"), Hammock Cove ("coming home to our Antigua family") and Curtain Bluff, where Tripadvisor's summary notes a high share of returning guests, are the strongest signal we know that a resort delivers.
Tripadvisor's review summary for Royalton Antigua sums up the big-resort trade-off on the island: a picturesque beachfront and lively atmosphere, but pricey for the value, with mixed cleanliness and inconsistent service.
Keyonna Beach's review summary highlights a serene atmosphere, excellent value and spotless cleanliness, with some guests noting road noise and dining that does not always meet expectations.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is the best all-inclusive resort in Antigua?
For most couples, Hermitage Bay is the best all-inclusive in Antigua: 32 villas with private pools or hot tubs, a 4.8 Tripadvisor rating from 1,982 reviews, two MICHELIN Keys and a generous all-inclusive plan. Hammock Cove is the bigger splurge, Galley Bay is the best value among the luxury resorts, and Curtain Bluff is the best choice for families.
What is the best adults-only all-inclusive in Antigua?
Hermitage Bay, Hammock Cove and Galley Bay are the top three adults-only resorts, all rated 4.7 or 4.8 on Tripadvisor. For lower prices, Cocobay (4.6) and Keyonna Beach (4.7) are excellent. Sandals Grande Antigua and Royalton CHIC Antigua are the lively adults-only options on Dickenson Bay, and Pineapple Beach Club and The Verandah are adults-only (16+) on the east coast.
Which Antigua all-inclusive resorts are best for families?
Curtain Bluff is the best family all-inclusive in Antigua, with the CEE BEE Kids Camp, superb food and nearly all activities included. St. James's Club & Villas is the mid-range option, with a kids' club, babysitting and several pools. Royalton Antigua has a kids' club for ages 4 to 12 and a teens' club and works well for Marriott Bonvoy members, though its reviews are more mixed.
Is Cocobay Resort all-inclusive, and what is included?
Yes. Cocobay's all-inclusive plan covers breakfast, lunch, afternoon bar bites or tea and dinner, all drinks by the glass, Wi-Fi, government tax, gratuities, the pools and non-motorized water sports. Sheer Rocks, the resort's well-known cliffside restaurant, costs extra. Cocobay is adults-only with 65 cottages and a Tripadvisor rating of 4.6 from 3,549 reviews.
Does Antigua really have 365 beaches?
That is the tourism board's slogan: "One destination. Two islands. 365 beaches." It counts Antigua and Barbuda together and is a marketing figure rather than an official count. What matters for a resort stay is the side of the island: west-coast beaches such as Hermitage Bay and Johnson's Point are usually calmer than Atlantic-side beaches in the east.
When is the best time to visit Antigua?
December to April is the best time, with the least rain (February and March average about 1.8 inches) and highs in the low to mid 80s °F. It is also the most expensive period. May and June offer better prices with mostly good weather. September to November are the wettest months, at 5.2 to 5.6 inches, and fall in the peak of hurricane season.
What happened to Hideaway at Royalton Antigua and Starfish Jolly Beach?
Royalton's own resort list now shows only two Antigua properties: the family Royalton Antigua and the adults-only Royalton CHIC Antigua on Dickenson Bay. Hideaway at Royalton Antigua no longer appears as a separate resort. The former Starfish Jolly Beach Resort now trades as Jolly Beach Antigua and is rated 3.6 on Tripadvisor, with complaints about basic rooms and noise.
Is The Verandah resort in Antigua closed?
No, The Verandah is open and now marketed as adults-only (16+), with 186 rooms, five restaurants and three pools on the east coast. WestJet Vacations lists a temporary closure for renovations from August 15 to September 30, 2027. Tripadvisor rates it 4.3 from 5,409 reviews.
How far are Antigua's resorts from the airport?
Antigua is small, so transfers are short. Royalton CHIC Antigua on Dickenson Bay is about 15 minutes from V.C. Bird International Airport, Hammock Cove about 25 minutes, Royalton Antigua about 30 minutes and Hermitage Bay about 35 minutes. South-coast resorts such as Curtain Bluff, Keyonna Beach and St. James's Club are the farthest.
Do I need to tip at Antigua all-inclusive resorts?
It depends on the resort. Sandals discourages tipping, and Cocobay includes gratuities in its rate. At other resorts, $2 to $5 per round of drinks and $5 to $10 for a sit-down meal is a common guide. Budget separately for the Tourism Guest Levy of up to $5 per person per night, which is paid at the hotel.
