Quick answer
- All-inclusive resorts in St. Martin / St. Maarten in 2026 come down to three real choices, all on the Dutch side: Sonesta Ocean Point (adults-only, 130 suites, Tripadvisor 4.5), Sonesta Maho Beach Resort (family, 420 rooms, Tripadvisor 3.5) and Divi Little Bay Beach Resort (optional all-inclusive plan, Tripadvisor 4.0).
- The French side has no all-inclusive resort right now: Secrets St. Martin left Hyatt on May 31, 2025, traded briefly as St. Martin Beach Resort & Spa, and closed in December 2025 with no reopening date.
- There is no Dreams resort on St. Martin. Simpson Bay Resort and Oyster Bay Beach Resort are room-only hotels that tour operators sometimes sell with an add-on meal plan.
- Best pick for couples: Sonesta Ocean Point. Best for families: Sonesta Maho, with kids' and teen clubs. Best beach and value: Divi Little Bay, a 15-minute walk from Philipsburg.
- Best months: December to April (driest February–March, about 2 inches of rain). September to November are wettest and fall in hurricane season; the island took a direct hit from Hurricane Irma in 2017.
- US travelers need a passport for both sides. Princess Juliana (SXM) has nonstops from New York, Newark, Miami, Charlotte, Atlanta, Boston, Philadelphia and Fort Lauderdale.
Our verdict
Our verdict: book Sonesta Ocean Point, or skip the all-inclusive
St. Martin is one of the best food islands in the Caribbean and one of the weakest all-inclusive markets, so our advice is blunt. If you are two adults and want everything included, book Sonesta Ocean Point: it is the only adults-only true all-inclusive on the island, its Tripadvisor score (4.5 from 1,091 reviews) is well ahead of its neighbors, and you get butler-service swim-up suites and the planes of Maho Beach next door. Families should book Sonesta Maho, but go in knowing that its reviews (3.5) describe range rather than polish. If you care most about the beach and value, Divi Little Bay with its optional plan is the better trade. Everyone else should consider not buying an all-inclusive at all: a French-side base such as Grand Case Beach Club (4.5) puts you a short walk from the island's best restaurants. These views are based on Tripadvisor and booking-site review patterns, official and tour-operator listings and October 2026 news, not paid stays.

All-inclusive resorts in St. Martin / St. Maarten: what you can book in 2026
Most "best all-inclusive" lists for St. Martin are out of date. As of October 2026, this is what you can actually book:
| Resort | Side | All-inclusive? | Adults-only | Tripadvisor |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sonesta Ocean Point | Dutch (Maho) | Yes, every stay | Yes | 4.5 (1,091) |
| Sonesta Maho Beach Resort, Casino & Spa | Dutch (Maho) | Yes, every stay | No | 3.5 (2,084) |
| Divi Little Bay Beach Resort (and Oceans at Divi Little Bay) | Dutch (Little Bay) | Optional plan | No | 4.0 (4,316) |
| Simpson Bay Resort, Marina & Spa | Dutch (Simpson Bay) | Only via tour-operator packages | No | Kayak 8.2/10 |
| Oyster Bay Beach Resort | Dutch–French border (Oyster Pond) | Only via tour-operator packages | No | Priceline 8.2/10 |
| Secrets St. Martin (Anse Marcel) | French | Closed since December 2025 | — | — |
That is a thin market for an island with this many visitors. The reason is history: Hurricane Irma in September 2017 destroyed or closed several resorts, the storm-damaged Riu Palace at Anse Marcel was sold in 2018 and reopened as Secrets St. Martin, and that resort left Hyatt on May 31, 2025 and shut entirely in December 2025 (St-Maarten.com, Vacation Express).
If you are flexible on island, the Caribbean hub compares 18 options; Antigua and Aruba both have far more choice.

1Best adults-only all-inclusive
Sonesta Ocean Point Resort
Maho, Dutch Sint Maarten
$461–$1,911 per night for two · HotelsCombined, 2 guests, Oct 27–28, 2026, including taxes and fees, across room types; checked October 2026
Our take
Sonesta Ocean Point is the all-inclusive we would book on St. Martin, and for adults it is effectively the only one. It is an all-suite, adults-only "resort within a resort" of 130 suites on the cliff above Maho Bay, with its own pools, Azul (the signature Mediterranean restaurant on the cliff edge), Portofino and Bluefin, plus access to the restaurants and bars at Sonesta Maho next door. Tripadvisor rates it 4.5 from 1,091 reviews, with 4.5 or better for cleanliness, location, rooms and service.
Recent reviews are dominated by repeat guests who rave about swim-up suites with butler service, staff who remember their drink orders and the planes landing a few hundred feet away. The weaknesses are just as consistent: there is no beach of its own, jet noise is part of the deal, and some guests found check-in and concierge staff less helpful than the rest of the team. Value (4.2) is its lowest sub-score. Book a swim-up or rooftop butler suite, plan a couple of days on the French side, and you will understand why so many guests come back year after year.
Skip it if You want a quiet beach resort or plan to swim in the sea every day.

What guests say
My wife and I fell in love with this resort, specifically with the for swim up rooms with Butler service.
It was breathtaking seeing the planes land and take off everyday.
The only place I didn't feel staff was great was check in/concierge.

2Best for families
Sonesta Maho Beach Resort, Casino & Spa
Maho, Dutch Sint Maarten
Our take
Sonesta Maho is the default family all-inclusive on St. Martin and the largest family resort on the Dutch side: 420 rooms, seven restaurants, six bars, two pools, a kids' club for ages 3 to 12, a teen zone, a spa and the Casino Royale across the road. A new Pelican's Nest Sky Deck opened in June 2026, with zip lines and a FlowRider surf simulator planned for 2027. It is about five minutes from the airport, and you can walk to Maho's bars and to the beach where planes land overhead.
The reviews are the reason it is not higher. Tripadvisor rates it 3.5 from 2,084 reviews, with value at 3.6 and rooms at 3.8. A typical October 2026 review praised the location, the Asian restaurant and some excellent staff, but described a pool-view room with no view, a leaking shower, a rude buffet employee and housekeeping that never came; another family's review of the same weeks was glowing about the front desk and restaurant team. Expect range rather than polish. Book it for a busy family week with lots to do, request your room location before accepting it, and treat the Ocean Terrace buffet closure until November 10, 2026 as a reason to avoid early November.
Skip it if You want a polished resort or a calm swimming beach.
Our category scores
Pros
- Island's main family all-inclusive, with kids' and teen clubs

- Walk to Maho Beach and nightlife

- Loud pool music and jet noise
- Ocean Terrace buffet closed for maintenance until Nov 10, 2026

What guests say
This resort could be a great place, but very inconsistant service, food opening times are not as advertised on website, be sure to ask where your room is before accepting.
While we enjoyed the resort, what truly made our stay memorable was the exceptional hospitality.
Location is nice and able to watch planes land near the beach.

3Best beach and value
Divi Little Bay Beach Resort
Little Bay, near Philipsburg, Dutch Sint Maarten
Our take
Divi Little Bay has the setting the rest of St. Martin's all-inclusive market lacks: a private peninsula between two bays, a soft arc of sand on calm Little Bay, the ruins of Fort Amsterdam on the headland and Philipsburg a 15-minute walk away. It has 210 rooms, five pools including a three-tier waterfall pool, and seven restaurants, and it sells its own optional all-inclusive plan in two tiers, Signature and Premium. Tripadvisor rates it 4.0 from 4,316 reviews, with location at 4.6.
Recent reviews keep coming back to the snorkeling right off the beach (turtles, eagle rays, octopus), clean pools and friendly staff, and repeat guests are common; one says they have made at least four trips. The weak point is upkeep and dining: 2025 to 2026 reviews mention broken fixtures, inconsistent housekeeping and a tired dinner buffet, and one October 2026 guest found the same dinner menu three nights running at low occupancy. Beachfront rooms and Buildings A and B were refurbished from June to December 2025, so ask for those. For a better room and international drinks, book the 98-room Oceans at Divi Little Bay section. Choose Divi if the beach and value matter more to you than restaurant variety.
Skip it if You want a polished resort with lots of dining variety.
Our category scores
Pros
- Calm beach with excellent snorkeling
- Optional all-inclusive plan, so you can choose
- Walkable to Philipsburg
- Beachfront rooms refurbished in 2025
Cons
- Upkeep and housekeeping complaints
- Dinner buffet and menu variety are weak points
- Domestic drinks only on the standard plan
- Rooms
- 210, plus 98 at Oceans at Divi Little Bay
- Pools
- 5
- Dining
- 7 restaurants (Mix at Oceans not included in the plan)
- All-inclusive
- Optional plan: meals, snacks, domestic drinks, transfers
- Refurbished
- Beachfront rooms and Buildings A and B, June–Dec 2025
What guests say
The beach is clean, crystal clear waters, great snorkeling conditions.
We have made at least 4 trips to Divi Little Bay and have never been disappointed.
I guess due to low capacity this time one of the restaurants had the same menu for dinner 3 days.

4Best French-side base (not all-inclusive)
Grand Case Beach Club
Grand Case, French Saint-Martin
Our take
Grand Case Beach Club is not an all-inclusive, and we include it deliberately. With Secrets closed, there is no all-inclusive on the French side, and this is the hotel we would book instead: 73 studios and suites with kitchens on two small beaches at the edge of Grand Case, the island's best restaurant village, with a pool and the Sunset Café on site. Tripadvisor rates it 4.5 from 2,174 reviews, with service and cleanliness among its strengths.
Guests love the calm beach, free snorkel gear, the friendly staff and the 5 to 10 minute walk into the village, and many return every year. The negatives are the building and the setting: there is no elevator to upper floors, one September 2026 reviewer reported a strong mold smell and worn linens, and the street outside is dark at night. Only the Sunset Café is on site, so you will eat out, which is the point of staying here. Budget roughly what you would spend on an all-inclusive and spread it across Grand Case's restaurants and Orient Bay's beach clubs. If you must have everything included, choose Sonesta Ocean Point.
Skip it if You want an all-inclusive wristband and lots of on-site dining.
Our category scores
Pros
- Walk to Grand Case's restaurants
- Two calm beaches and free snorkel gear
- Kitchens in units; free shuttle to a supermarket
- Tripadvisor 4.5 from 2,174 reviews
Cons
- Not all-inclusive
- No elevator; some rooms show wear
- About 40 minutes from SXM airport
- Units
- 73 studios and suites
- Dining
- Sunset Café
- Meal plan
- None; room-only rates
- Beaches
- Two beach areas, including Petite Plage
What guests say
The hotel was quiet, the beaches beautiful, exactly what we wanted.
Overall, the place was quiet and relaxing but it was not a four star property as they have it listed and we felt it was quite overpriced for the quality.
5Best for self-caterers (package-only all-inclusive)
Oyster Bay Beach Resort
Oyster Pond and Dawn Beach, on the Dutch–French border
Our take
Oyster Bay Beach Resort is a quiet condo resort on an eight-acre peninsula at Oyster Pond, right on the line where Dutch Sint Maarten becomes French Saint-Martin. It has two things nobody else on the island can match: an infinity pool built out over an old coral reef with St. Barts on the horizon, and direct access to Dawn Beach, which has the island's best easy-entry snorkeling. Priceline guests rate it 8.2 out of 10 from 135 reviews.
It is not an all-inclusive resort. The standard rate is room-only, every unit has at least a half kitchen, and an all-inclusive meal plan exists only when a tour operator bundles one into a package. With just two dining venues on site, most guests are better off self-catering and eating out. Reviewers also mention short staffing, with long waits for drinks and breakfast, and some suites are up to three flights of stairs. You will want a rental car, as the airport is 30 to 40 minutes away. Book Oyster Bay for a peaceful, snorkel-focused week with a spectacular pool; skip it if you want a wristband resort with lots of restaurants.
Skip it if You want a true all-inclusive with several restaurants.
Our category scores
Pros
- Infinity pool over a coral reef
- Dawn Beach snorkeling on the doorstep
- Kitchens in every unit
- Quiet, away from cruise crowds and jets
Cons
- Not all-inclusive unless bought as a tour-operator package
- Only two dining venues; short staffing reported
- Car needed; 30–40 minutes from the airport
- Units
- About 182 condo-style units
- Dining
- The Infinity Restaurant and Veranda Market & Bistro
- Board
- Room-only; all-inclusive via tour-operator packages only
- Airport transfer
- 30–40 minutes, about $40 for two by taxi

6Best for families who want kitchens (package-only all-inclusive)
Simpson Bay Resort, Marina & Spa
Simpson Bay, Dutch Sint Maarten
Our take
Simpson Bay Resort is the island's largest resort and the place many Americans land when they search for an all-inclusive in St. Maarten, which is awkward, because it is not one. Its own rates are room-only, with deals like breakfast or food-and-drink credits; all-inclusive exists only as a tour-operator add-on. What it does offer is space: 272 suites and 83 two-bedroom villas, all with a kitchen or kitchenette, five restaurants, a marina, tennis courts, a spa and a sheltered beach, about 15 minutes and $15 to $20 by taxi from the airport. Kayak guests rate it 8.2 out of 10 from 1,623 reviews, with location at 9.5.
The catch is condition. The resort has been renovating building by building, and Kayak's review summary flags dated facilities and noise from maintenance and cleaning crews, with a tip to request a quieter room; room quality varies sharply between refurbished and older units, and timeshare presentations are part of the experience. Kayak's cleanliness sub-score is just 5.0. Book it for a family or group who want kitchens and the restaurants of the Simpson Bay strip on the doorstep, and insist on a refurbished unit away from construction.
Skip it if You want a true all-inclusive or a postcard beach.
Our category scores
Pros
- Big suites and villas, all with kitchens
- Five on-site restaurants plus the Simpson Bay strip
- 15 minutes from the airport
- Low room-only prices
Cons
- Not all-inclusive unless bought as a package
- Rolling renovations and uneven room quality
- Timeshare sales presentations
- Units
- 272 suites plus 83 two-bedroom villas
- Dining
- 5 restaurants, including La Patrona and Bovin Steak House
- Board
- Room-only; all-inclusive via tour-operator packages only
- Airport transfer
- About 15 minutes, $15–20 by taxi
What guests say
Kayak's guest scores split sharply: location rates 9.5 out of 10 and amenities 8.5, but cleanliness and breakfast score just 5.0 and service 6.0.
Kayak's summary of guest reviews says some guests found the facilities dated and staff less than friendly, and mentions noise from cleaning staff and maintenance work; it suggests asking for a quieter room location.

Pros & cons
St. Martin for an all-inclusive: why go, why not
Reasons to go
- Short nonstop flights from eight-plus US cities
- Two countries and two cuisines on one small island
- Sonesta Ocean Point is a genuinely good adults-only all-inclusive
- Maho Beach plane-spotting is a one-of-a-kind spectacle
- Easy day trips to Anguilla and St. Barts
Reasons to think twice
- Only three true all-inclusives, all on the Dutch side
- No all-inclusive on the French side since December 2025
- Mixed reviews at the family resort, Sonesta Maho
- Traffic and the Simpson Bay bridge slow down drives
- Squarely in the hurricane belt (Irma, 2017)
Dutch Sint Maarten vs. French Saint-Martin: where to stay
The island is split between Dutch Sint Maarten in the south and French Saint-Martin in the north, with an open border you can drive across without stopping.
| Dutch Sint Maarten | French Saint-Martin | |
|---|---|---|
| Vibe | Busier, casinos, nightlife, cruise port at Philipsburg | Quieter, French villages, cafés |
| All-inclusives | Sonesta Maho, Sonesta Ocean Point, Divi Little Bay | None open in 2026 |
| Food | Simpson Bay strip, Philipsburg | Grand Case, Marigot, Orient Bay beach clubs |
| Beaches | Maho (planes), Little Bay, Great Bay, Simpson Bay, Dawn Beach | Orient Bay, Grand Case, Anse Marcel, Baie Rouge |
| Money | US dollars accepted everywhere | Euro (cards and dollars widely accepted) |
| Tipping | Restaurants often add a 10–15% service charge | Service legally included in the bill |
Which side should you choose?
- All-inclusive at any cost: the Dutch side, specifically Maho or Little Bay.
- Food and a quieter beach: the French side, eating out every night. Grand Case alone has dozens of restaurants.
- Best of both: stay at an all-inclusive and rent a car for two or three French-side days. Taxi times from the airport run about 5 minutes to Maho, 15 to Simpson Bay, 20 to 25 to Little Bay and about 40 to Grand Case or Orient Bay.

What happened to Secrets St. Martin (and is there a Dreams?)
Secrets St. Martin Resort & Spa opened at Anse Marcel on the French side in February 2020 as a 258-room, adults-only Hyatt Inclusive Collection resort built from the former Riu Palace St. Martin. On May 31, 2025 it stopped operating as Secrets and left the Hyatt Inclusive Collection (Vacation Express). It briefly continued as St. Martin Beach Resort & Spa, then shut its gates entirely in December 2025, with no announced reopening date; an August 2026 report describes the entrance as still barred (St-Maarten.com).
The last reviews before the brand exit were mixed: Tripadvisor showed 3.5 from 793 reviews, with guests praising the calm Anse Marcel beach but describing a resort that needed a heavy face-lift.
The good news: Anse Marcel's beach, marina, restaurants and small hotels are still open, so it is still worth a day trip.
Is there a Dreams resort on St. Martin? No. We found no Dreams property on either side of the island, open or announced, as of October 2026. If you are loyal to the Hyatt Inclusive Collection, the closest options are elsewhere in the Caribbean.

Maho Beach planes: what staying next to the runway is like
Both Sonesta resorts sit at Maho, beside the end of the runway at Princess Juliana International Airport, where jets pass a few dozen feet over the sand. For many guests it is the highlight; one October 2026 Sonesta Ocean Point reviewer called it breathtaking to watch the planes land and take off every day.
What to know before you book:
- It is loud. Jet noise runs from morning to evening. The resorts are well insulated, and several reviewers say the property itself is quiet, but you will hear the bigger jets.
- Maho Beach is a spectacle, not a swimming beach. It is narrow, public and often rough. Sonesta Ocean Point has no beach of its own.
- Jet blast is dangerous. Warning signs are posted because people standing behind departing aircraft have been seriously injured. Watch from the side or from a bar.
- The novelty fades. Many repeat visitors say the planes are thrilling for the first couple of days, then become background noise.
If you want a swimming beach, Divi Little Bay or a day at Orient Bay is the better bet.
Optional all-inclusive plans: Divi Little Bay, Simpson Bay and Oyster Bay
Three popular resorts are often sold as all-inclusive but work differently:
Divi Little Bay Beach Resort: a real optional plan
Divi sells its own all-inclusive plan on top of the room rate, in two tiers, Signature and Premium (Divi Resorts). WestJet Vacations lists the plan as including all meals and snacks, unlimited domestic drinks and airport transfers, with the rooftop Mix at Oceans restaurant excluded (WestJet Vacations). Divi's own site says the Premium plan adds two more dining venues, in-room refreshments, handcrafted cocktails and premium liquors (Divi Resorts), and Divi was promoting a free all-inclusive upgrade on St. Maarten stays in October 2026.
Simpson Bay Resort and Oyster Bay Beach Resort: packages only
Both are vacation-ownership resorts with kitchens in the units and room-only rates by default. All-inclusive exists only when a tour operator such as Sunwing, WestJet Vacations or Vacation Express bundles a meal plan into a flight-plus-hotel package. If you book either direct or on a hotel site, expect to pay for every meal and drink.
Is a meal plan worth it?
On this island, often not. Simpson Bay sits on the island's busiest restaurant strip, and Oyster Bay has only two dining venues, so most guests are better off cooking a few meals and eating out the rest. Our what is an all-inclusive resort guide explains how to compare a package against paying as you go.

Orient Bay, Grand Case and the French side without an all-inclusive
With Secrets closed, a French-side stay means room-only or breakfast rates, which is how most of the side's regulars prefer it.
- Orient Bay is the island's most famous beach: long, lined with beach clubs, with a clothing-optional section at its southern end. No all-inclusive resort sits on it, and La Playa Orient Bay closes from August 16 to October 12, 2026.
- Grand Case is the food village. Grand Case Beach Club (73 units, Tripadvisor 4.5 from 2,174 reviews) is the hotel we would use as a base: two small beaches, a pool, one restaurant and a 5 to 10 minute walk into the village.
- La Samanna (Belmond) is the French side's luxury hotel. It is not all-inclusive and is closed from July 24 to November 14, 2026.
A budget tip for all-inclusive guests on the Dutch side: rent a car for a day, have lunch on Orient Bay and dinner in Grand Case, and you will see why the French side has so many loyal visitors.

Best time to visit St. Martin / St. Maarten
St. Martin is warm all year, with average highs from about 83°F in January to 89°F from July to September at Princess Juliana Airport, according to Meteorological Department Curaçao data. The real differences are rain and price.
- Mid-December to mid-April (high season): the driest stretch and the most expensive. February and March average about 2 inches of rain each; Christmas and New Year are the priciest weeks.
- May and early June: the value sweet spot, with rates falling before hurricane season.
- June to November (low season): cheapest; September and October rates can be about half of peak. September to November are also the wettest months, at about 4.4 to 5.9 inches each.
The Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30 and peaks around September 10 (NOAA). St. Martin sits in the main storm track; Hurricane Irma made a direct hit in September 2017 and reshaped the hotel market. Buy travel insurance for any trip between August and October, and check whether your resort has restaurants closed for seasonal maintenance; Sonesta Maho's Ocean Terrace buffet, for example, is closed for maintenance until November 10, 2026.

Getting there and getting around
Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) on the Dutch side handles all jet traffic. Nonstop US service runs from New York (JFK), Newark, Miami, Charlotte, Atlanta, Boston, Philadelphia and Fort Lauderdale, with seasonal flights from Chicago, Baltimore, Orlando and Minneapolis. The small Grand Case–Espérance airport (SFG) on the French side handles regional hops only. Expect long immigration lines at SXM at peak times.
Transfers
- Sonesta Maho and Ocean Point: about 5 minutes; round-trip transfers are included in tour-operator packages.
- Simpson Bay Resort: about 15 minutes, roughly $15 to $20 by taxi.
- Divi Little Bay: about 20 to 25 minutes.
- Oyster Bay Beach Resort: 30 to 40 minutes, about $40 for two by taxi.
- Grand Case: about 40 minutes.
Taxis charge fixed, posted fares, usually quoted for two passengers; agree the fare before you get in. The Simpson Bay lagoon bridge opens three times a day and can add 20 to 30 minutes to airport runs, so leave margin on departure day.
Do you need a car?
Not at Maho, where you can walk to bars, restaurants and the beach. Anywhere else, and especially at Oyster Bay or on the French side, a rental car makes the trip.
Costs, tipping and money
St. Martin is a mid-priced Caribbean destination for an all-inclusive, but rates swing widely by date and room. For late-October 2026 dates, HotelsCombined showed Sonesta Ocean Point from about $461 a night for two including taxes and fees, with its priciest suites near $1,911, and listed September as the cheapest month (HotelsCombined). Low-season starting rates published in August 2026 were lower still, roughly $300 a night at Ocean Point, $220 at Sonesta Maho, $180 at Divi Little Bay and $150 at Simpson Bay and Oyster Bay (the last two room-only), according to a rate roundup. Peak weeks can cost roughly twice as much, so price your own dates on the resorts' sites before booking.
Tipping
- Sonesta resorts: gratuities are included in the rate, though a dollar or two for bartenders is appreciated.
- Dutch-side restaurants: many add a 10 to 15% service charge; check the bill before adding more. If none is added, 15 to 20% is standard.
- French side: service is legally included; rounding up or leaving a few euros is enough.
Money
US dollars are accepted everywhere on the Dutch side. The French side uses the euro, but cards and dollars are widely accepted. Some resorts charge for parking; one 2026 Sonesta Maho reviewer paid $10 a day for the garage.

Mistakes to avoid when booking an all-inclusive in St. Martin
- Booking Secrets St. Martin from an old listing. It closed in December 2025.
- Assuming "all-inclusive" means the resort includes food. At Simpson Bay and Oyster Bay, it only applies to specific tour-operator packages.
- Expecting a swimming beach at Sonesta Ocean Point. It has none of its own; Maho Beach is narrow and rough.
- Mixing up the two Sonesta resorts. One October 2026 reviewer's group accidentally booked the family side instead of adults-only Ocean Point. Check the property name on your confirmation.
- Not asking for a specific room. Sonesta Maho reviewers report pool-view rooms that face plants, and Simpson Bay rooms vary widely between refurbished and not.
- Skipping the French side. Grand Case and Orient Bay are a short drive away and are the main reason many visitors return.

What travel-forum regulars say
Travel-forum consensus
The long-running view among St. Martin regulars, visible across years of Tripadvisor reviews, is that this is an island for eating out. Repeat visitors to Grand Case Beach Club, Oyster Bay and Divi Little Bay talk about walking to restaurants, renting a car and treating the French side as the highlight, while Sonesta Ocean Point's loyal guests are the main exception: they come back for butler suites, the Azul restaurant and the planes. The other consistent theme in 2026 is confusion. Reviewers on the family Sonesta Maho side describe booking mistakes between the two Sonesta properties, and the closure of Secrets St. Martin has left the French side without an all-inclusive, which older blog posts and some booking sites have not caught up with. The practical consensus: book Ocean Point if you must have everything included, and otherwise choose a base by beach and restaurants rather than by meal plan.
An October 2026 family review explains they mistakenly booked the family side of Sonesta Maho instead of adults-only Ocean Point, but ended up happy because the adults-only lobby was not air-conditioned.
A September 2026 Grand Case Beach Club review lays out the French-side routine: a 5 to 10 minute walk to Grand Case's restaurants, free snorkel gear on Petite Plage and a free shuttle to the supermarket.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What are the all-inclusive resorts in St. Martin / St. Maarten?
As of October 2026 there are three real options, all on the Dutch side: Sonesta Ocean Point (adults-only), Sonesta Maho Beach Resort, Casino & Spa (family) and Divi Little Bay Beach Resort, which sells an optional all-inclusive plan. Simpson Bay Resort and Oyster Bay Beach Resort are room-only hotels that tour operators sometimes package with a meal plan. The French side has no all-inclusive since Secrets St. Martin closed.
Is Secrets St. Martin still open?
No. Secrets St. Martin stopped operating under the Secrets name and left the Hyatt Inclusive Collection on May 31, 2025. It briefly traded as St. Martin Beach Resort & Spa and then closed entirely in December 2025, with no announced reopening date. The beach, marina and restaurants at Anse Marcel are still open for day visits.
Is there a Dreams resort on St. Martin?
No. We found no Dreams resort open or announced on either side of St. Martin as of October 2026. The Hyatt Inclusive Collection's only property on the island was Secrets St. Martin, which left the brand in May 2025 and closed in December 2025. For Dreams or Secrets resorts, look at Punta Cana, Jamaica or Mexico.
Is Sonesta Maho or Sonesta Ocean Point better?
For couples, Sonesta Ocean Point: it is adults-only, all-suite (130 suites) and rated 4.5 on Tripadvisor, against 3.5 for Sonesta Maho. Families must book Sonesta Maho, which has 420 rooms, a kids' club for ages 3 to 12, a teen zone and the casino. Ocean Point guests can also use Maho's restaurants and bars, so couples get both.
Is it better to stay on the Dutch or French side of St. Martin?
For an all-inclusive, the Dutch side, because that is where all three options are. For food, beaches and a quieter, more European feel, the French side, with Grand Case and Orient Bay as the highlights. Many visitors stay at a Dutch-side all-inclusive and rent a car for a day or two on the French side; there is no border control between them.
Do I need a passport for St. Martin?
Yes. US citizens need a valid passport to visit St. Martin, whether you fly into Dutch Princess Juliana Airport or stay on the French side. Sint Maarten is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Saint-Martin is a French overseas collectivity, so neither is a US territory. If you want a no-passport trip, look at the U.S. Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico.
When is the best time to visit St. Martin?
December to April has the driest weather, with February and March averaging about 2 inches of rain, but it is also the most expensive. May and early June are the best value before hurricane season. September to November are the wettest months, at about 4.4 to 5.9 inches, and the island sits in the main hurricane track.
Is Maho Beach safe and can you swim there?
You can swim at Maho Beach, but it is narrow, public and often rough, so it is better for watching planes than for a beach day. Warning signs are posted about jet blast from departing aircraft, which has seriously injured people standing behind planes. Watch from the side or from a beach bar, and swim at Little Bay, Orient Bay or Dawn Beach instead.
Are tips included at St. Martin all-inclusives?
At the Sonesta resorts, gratuities are included in the rate, though many guests tip bartenders a dollar or two. In Dutch-side restaurants, check the bill for a 10 to 15% service charge before adding more. On the French side, service is legally included, so rounding up is enough.
