Quick answer
- The best Maldives all-inclusive resorts for most couples are Sun Siyam Iru Fushi (premium plan with 15 venues and 66+ wines by the glass) and Atmosphere Kanifushi (premium plan with free transfers, rated 9.4 on Booking.com), at about $1,190–$1,400 a night for two.
- On a budget, OBLU Xperience Ailafushi near Malé was the cheapest all-inclusive with free transfers we priced: $5,033 for 7 nights in February 2027 (taxes included). Niva Kuramathi started slightly lower at $4,877 but charges extra for transfers, and Kandima started at $5,221.
- Read the plan tier. At Kuramathi, full board covers buffet meals with only tea, coffee and water. The all-inclusive tier adds branded spirits, house wine and beer, and Dine Around adds nine à la carte restaurants. The step from full board to all-inclusive cost only about $100 a night on our dates.
- Budget for transfers if they aren't included: speedboats run roughly $50–$300 per person round trip and seaplanes $250–$600+, and seaplanes fly in daylight only. Every bill also carries a 10% service charge, 17% T-GST and a $12 per person, per night green tax.
- Go January to April for the driest weather (Malé averages 1.5 inches of rain in February). May and October to November are the wettest months but usually the cheapest. There are no nonstop flights from the U.S., so plan on one stop via the Gulf, Istanbul or Europe.
- For adults-only, book Hurawalhi (90 villas, all-inclusive from about $2,190 a night). For families, book Siyam World (floating water park, kids club, horse ranch) or Kandima, where two kids up to age 5 stay and eat free.
Our verdict
Our verdict: pay for a premium plan, and get the transfer included
Maldives resorts price meals and drinks heavily, so on a one-island holiday a good all-inclusive plan is usually worth it. Our top pick is Sun Siyam Iru Fushi. Its 24-hour Premium All-Inclusive includes à la carte dinners at five restaurants, a 24-hour bar, more than 66 wines by the glass, daily excursions and kids' club access. It scores 9.4 on Booking.com and 4.8 on Tripadvisor across more than 8,600 reviews.
For better value, Atmosphere Kanifushi came in about $1,500 cheaper for the same week with free transfers, and guests rate it just as highly. Couples who want an adults-only island should book Hurawalhi, which has the world's largest all-glass undersea restaurant (the 5.8 is not covered by the plan). Families should choose Siyam World, the most activity-packed resort we found.
If the budget is tight, OBLU Xperience Ailafushi near Malé was the cheapest all-inclusive with transfers on our dates. Niva Kuramathi is the best classic big island for the money. Expect simpler food at both. Prices quoted are Booking.com totals for two adults in February 2027, with taxes included, checked October 2026. Our opinions are based on official plan sheets and recent guest reviews, not our own stays.

How Maldives all-inclusive resorts work: full board vs. all-inclusive vs. premium
Every Maldives resort is its own island, so you eat and drink where you sleep, at resort prices. That makes the meal plan the biggest decision after the villa. Most resorts sell three or four tiers, and the names vary. Niva Kuramathi's 2026 meal plan factsheet (Kuramathi) is a clear example:
| Plan | Food | Drinks | Extras |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full board | Buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner | Tea, coffee and water only | None |
| All-inclusive | Buffets plus afternoon snacks | Soft drinks, branded spirits, cocktails, house wine by the glass, draught beer; beer and soft drinks in the minibar | Snorkel gear, 1 hour of windsurfing a day, a local-island visit |
| Dine Around all-inclusive | Adds a choice of 9 à la carte restaurants | Adds curated wines at à la carte dinners | $35 spa credit per adult |
Premium labels are always extra, and minimum stays apply (three nights for all-inclusive, four for Dine Around).
What the upgrade costs
The price gaps are often smaller than people expect. On Booking.com for February 10–17, 2027 (two adults, taxes included), Kuramathi's Beach Bungalow cost $4,140–$4,368 on full board and $4,877–$5,842 on all-inclusive. That is roughly $100–$200 a night to add the bar. At Sun Siyam Iru Fushi, the same Deluxe Beach Villa with Pool was $5,789 with breakfast only and $9,771 on the premium all-inclusive, a bigger jump that buys à la carte dinners, the 24-hour bar and excursions. At Kandima, breakfast-only was $2,501 and premium all-inclusive was $5,221.
Premium plans
A premium plan usually adds à la carte dining, better spirits and wines, a stocked minibar and one or more excursions. Siyam World's 24/7 WOW plan includes unlimited champagne, 100 wine labels, three excursions, the floating water park and a $50 spa credit per adult (Sun Siyam). Hurawalhi's All-Inclusive Plus covers buffet and à la carte meals, minibar drinks, a demi-bottle of champagne and a sunset dolphin cruise, but not its famous 5.8 Undersea Restaurant (Hurawalhi).

Our take
Iru Fushi is the resort we'd book for a first Maldives trip where food and drink matter. The 24-Hour Premium All-Inclusive Dine Around is one of the most complete plans we read. It includes buffet breakfast and lunch, à la carte three-course lunches and dinners at Bamboo, Flavours, Taste of India and The Trio, and 50% off at Islander's Grill and in-villa dining. The 24-hour Waters Edge bar, more than 66 wines by the glass including champagne, premium spirits, a daily minibar and a sommelier-led wine tasting are covered too. Activities include a sunset cruise, a guided snorkel at Nemo Park, a local-island trip, an hour of catamaran or windsurfing a day and a 10-minute scuba trial.
Guests back it up with a 9.4 Booking.com score and 4.8 on Tripadvisor across 8,629 reviews. The downsides are small: some villas have outdoor bathrooms that get humid, cats roam the breakfast area, and specialty events and premium dishes cost extra.
At about $1,400 a night all-inclusive with taxes for our February dates, it isn't cheap. But that included dinners at five restaurants, and the breakfast-only rate was $827 a night, so the plan earns its keep.
Skip it if You want a tiny, quiet island or you don't drink, in which case breakfast or half board is cheaper.

The island is absolutely beautiful, with crystal-clear water, stunning beaches, and breathtaking views.
Toilet outside the back of villa. Can be humid.

2Best value premium plan
Atmosphere Kanifushi
Lhaviyani Atoll, Maldives
$1,187–$1,478 per night for two · Booking.com, 2 adults, 7 nights Feb 10–17, 2027, Sunset Beach Villa, premium all-inclusive with free transfers, incl. taxes and fees, checked Oct 2026 ($8,312–$10,348 total).
Guest ratings
Booking.com9.4/10 · 408Tripadvisor4.9/5 · 6,036Checked Oct 2026; review counts in grey.
Our take
Kanifushi is our value pick among premium all-inclusives. Booking.com sells it as Premium All Inclusive with Free Transfers, and on our February dates a Sunset Beach Villa came to $8,312 for seven nights with taxes. That is about $1,500 less than Iru Fushi, and you skip a seaplane bill. Its Kanifushi Plan, as described by Maldives Magazine, covers the Spice all-day buffet with live stations, the Just Veg vegetarian restaurant, Sri Lankan dishes at Ceylon Bliss, premium spirits at the bars, non-motorized water sports and the house reef. Spa treatments are extra.
The guest record is excellent: 9.4 on Booking.com across 408 reviews and 4.9 on Tripadvisor across 6,036. Reviewers single out the long beach, sunset water villas and food. Complaints are minor and practical, such as bikes too small for taller guests and weak Wi-Fi in places. One non-drinker wished the minibar had more non-alcoholic choices.
We'd book it for couples or families who want a long, sandy island and a strong plan without paying top-tier prices. The plan details above come from Maldives Magazine's summary rather than the resort's own published terms, so confirm the current inclusions with the resort before booking.
Skip it if You want à la carte fine dining every night or an adults-only island.

What guests say
The property is very nice. Big beach. Water Villas are amazing with nice sunset point. Food was awesome.
The bicycles are definitely too small for anyone taller than 170 cm.
A guest who doesn't drink alcohol found the in-room minibar very well stocked with wine and beer, but wanted more non-alcoholic alternatives included in the plan.

Hurawalhi Island Resort
Lhaviyani Atoll, Maldives
$2,192–$2,192 per night for two · Booking.com, 2 adults, 7 nights Mar 3–10, 2027, Ocean Pool Villa, all-inclusive incl. taxes and fees ($15,345 total), checked Oct 2026; Feb dates were unavailable.
Guest ratings
Booking.com9.4/10 · 227Tripadvisor4.9/5 · 4,688Checked Oct 2026; review counts in grey.
Our take
Hurawalhi is the adults-only island to book if you want romance and a show-stopping dinner. It has 90 villas in Lhaviyani Atoll and is home to 5.8 Undersea, which the resort calls the world's largest all-glass undersea restaurant. The All-Inclusive Plus plan covers the Canneli buffet, à la carte lunch and dinner at Kashibo, snacks at Junk Food Kitchen and Coco Bar, unlimited drinks from a set list, a minibar, a demi-bottle of champagne per villa, a sunset dolphin cruise and a group snorkel with the marine biologist (Hurawalhi). Neither 5.8 nor the Champagne Pavilion is included, so budget separately for the undersea dinner.
It is also the most expensive plan we priced. An Ocean Pool Villa on all-inclusive came to $15,345 for seven nights in March 2027, and the roughly 40-minute seaplane is not included in villa rates. Guests rate it 9.4 on Booking.com and 4.9 on Tripadvisor (4,688 reviews), with high praise for the staff and food. The complaints are about extras: many things need reservations and add-ons are costly even on all-inclusive, and buggies stop at 9 p.m.
Book it for a honeymoon if the budget stretches. Skip it if you want lots of free activities.
Skip it if You want an all-in price that covers the signature dining, or you're travelling with kids.

What guests say
Everything was perfect. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Food was excellent at every venue.
The buggies not running past 9pm was a bit inconvenient.
A June 2026 guest said lots of things, including restaurants and water activities, require reservations, and that extras are really costly even on the all-inclusive plan.

4Best for families
Siyam World
Noonu Atoll, Maldives
$1,505–$1,878 per night for two · Booking.com, 2 adults, 7 nights Feb 10–17, 2027, 24-hour premium all-inclusive incl. taxes and fees ($10,536–$13,145 total), checked Oct 2026.
Guest ratings
Booking.com9.4/10 · 615Tripadvisor4.9/5 · 6,532Checked Oct 2026; review counts in grey.
Our take
Siyam World is the Maldives for families who'd be bored by a sandbank. The 24/7 WOW Premium All-Inclusive covers breakfast, a dine-around lunch at four venues, afternoon tea, and dinner at the buffet or one of six specialty restaurants (Thai, Spanish, Indian, grill, Italian and Maldivian). Unlimited champagne, premium spirits, 100 wines and 100 cocktails are poured at eight bars, including a 24/7 sports bar. The plan also includes three excursions, unlimited access to what Sun Siyam calls the country's biggest floating water park, a $50 spa credit per adult and Kidz World for ages 3–11 (Sun Siyam). There's also a horse ranch, go-karts, Mini Moke cars and one- to four-bedroom villas, including water villas with slides.
Guests rate it 9.4 on Booking.com and 4.9 on Tripadvisor across 6,532 reviews, praising the space, pools and staff. The weak spot is lunch: one October 2026 reviewer found the options limited and mostly fast food. Some activities cost extra on top of the plan.
At about $1,500 a night for two, rising with kids and bigger villas, it's a splurge. But the free seaplane on 7+ night stays and the amount that's included make it fair value for an active family.
Skip it if You want a small, quiet island where you see the same few faces every day.

Pros
- Huge range of included activities, including the floating water park
- Unlimited champagne and premium drinks at eight bars

- Lunch options are limited and fast-food heavy, per a recent review
- A big, busy island: not the quiet Maldives

What guests say
We had a wonderful stay at Siyam World! The resort is absolutely beautiful, incredibly spacious, and one of the largest in the Maldives, with so much to see and do.
One area for improvement would be the lunch options. Unfortunately, the choices are quite limited and mainly focused on fast food.

Guest ratings
Tripadvisor4.8/5 · 7,420Booking.com9.3/10 · 820Checked Oct 2026; review counts in grey.
Our take
Kuramathi, now branded Niva Kuramathi Maldives (a Niva resort by Versa Hospitality), is the classic big Maldives island at a mid-range price. It is about 1.8 km long, ending in a long white sandbank, with 360 rooms, nine restaurants and seven bars by the resort's count. The house reef has reef sharks and rays, and kids get the Bageecha club. It's a 20-minute seaplane or a 75–90 minute speedboat from Malé.
The meal plans are transparent. All-inclusive adds branded spirits, cocktails, house wine and draught beer to the buffets, plus a beer-and-soft-drink minibar, snorkel gear, windsurfing and a visit to Rasdhoo. Dine Around adds nine à la carte restaurants and a $35 spa credit. On our February dates, all-inclusive was only about $100–$200 a night more than full board, at $697–$835 a night in total.
It rates 4.8 on Tripadvisor from 7,420 reviews and 9.3 on Booking.com. Recent critical reviews mention some dated rooms, uneven service at reception, a buffet that repeats over long stays, and construction work in August 2026. We'd book a beach villa on Dine Around for the best balance of price and food.
Skip it if You want a new, design-led resort or a tiny private-feeling island.
Our category scores
Pros
- Clear, good-value meal plans with a cheap step up to all-inclusive
- Big island with a sandbank, reef sharks and lots of activities
- Short 20-minute seaplane
- Kids club and family villas
Cons
- Some rooms feel dated; construction reported in August 2026
- Buffet can feel repetitive over a week
- Service at reception uneven in a few recent reviews
- Rooms
- 360 (Tripadvisor listing); 12 villa types
- Island
- About 1.8 km long with a sandbank
- Transfer
- Seaplane about 20 min; speedboat 75–90 min
- Plans
- Full board, all-inclusive, Dine Around all-inclusive
- Minimum stay

What guests say
Impeccable service in a true corner of paradise.
2 drawbacks. The ability to purchase additional snacks on demand (also like a basic room service menu) and the buggies be a bit more frequent.
There are huge construction works currently.
Three-star reviews from early 2026 describe a lovely island that looks a little old in places, and service that ranged from warm to unfriendly, especially at reception.
6Best luxury near Malé
OZEN LIFE MAADHOO
South Malé Atoll, Maldives
$1,795–$1,906 per night for two · Booking.com, 2 adults, 7 nights Feb 10–17, 2027, all-inclusive with free transfers incl. taxes and fees ($12,564–$13,339 total), checked Oct 2026.
Our take
OZEN Life Maadhoo is the luxury all-inclusive we'd pick if you want to skip the seaplane. It sits in South Malé Atoll, reached by speedboat, and Booking.com listed it as Luxury All Inclusive with Free Transfers in October 2026. Its INDULGENCE plan is known for one perk in particular: Maldives Magazine reports that a dinner at the M6m underwater restaurant is included for stays of four nights or more, and that 4+ night stays also get a 60-minute spa voucher. At most resorts that kind of dinner costs hundreds of dollars extra.
Guests rate it 9.1 on Booking.com (160 reviews) and praise highly personal service. The criticisms we found were trivial, such as wanting more towel hooks or a slightly wider menu selection.
The price is the catch: $12,564 and up for seven nights in a Private Beach Villa on our February dates. That is about $2,800 more than Iru Fushi for the same week, and only Hurawalhi cost more on this list. The INDULGENCE perks above come from Maldives Magazine rather than the resort's own published terms, so get the current inclusions in writing before booking.
Skip it if You want the best price per night, or a big island with lots of free activities.
Our category scores
Pros
- Speedboat transfers listed as free; no seaplane timing stress
- Underwater-restaurant dinner reported as included on 4+ nights
- Very personal service in recent reviews
Cons
- Expensive: about $1,800+ a night for two
- Smaller review base than older resorts
- Plan perks are reported by a third party; get the INDULGENCE terms in writing
- Plan
- INDULGENCE all-inclusive
- Transfer
- Speedboat; listed as free on Booking.com (Oct 2026)
- Signature perk
- M6m underwater dinner on 4+ nights (Maldives Magazine)

- Private Beach Villa and Private Water Villa
What guests say
An exceptional stay from beginning to end.
I would add more hooks in the bathroom to hang towels!
A July 2026 guest found nothing significant to dislike, but said the one area to improve would be a wider selection on the menus over a longer stay.

7Best budget all-inclusive
OBLU XPERIENCE Ailafushi
North Malé Atoll, near Velana International Airport, Maldives
$719–$765 per night for two · Booking.com, 2 adults, 7 nights Feb 10–17, 2027, all-inclusive with free transfers incl. taxes and fees ($5,033–$5,357 total), checked Oct 2026.
Guest ratings
Booking.com9.1/10 · 1,895Tripadvisor4.8/5 · 3,605Checked Oct 2026; review counts in grey.
Our take
OBLU Xperience Ailafushi is the cheapest real all-inclusive we found that also includes transfers. A Beach Villa came to $5,033 for seven nights in February 2027 with taxes, about $719 a night for two, and the resort sells itself as All Inclusive with Free Transfers on both Booking.com and Tripadvisor. Being in North Malé Atoll close to the airport, it's reached by speedboat, so late arrivals and short stays are realistic.
It is popular: 9.1 on Booking.com from 1,895 reviews and 4.8 on Tripadvisor from 3,605. Guests praise cleanliness, staff and food variety. The food is also where the criticism lands. Recent reviewers call one à la carte restaurant disappointing and say some dishes lack flavour. Wi-Fi doesn't reach the beach everywhere. Expect a younger, busier atmosphere than on outer-atoll islands, and a view of Malé-area development rather than empty horizon.
We'd book it for a first Maldives trip on a budget, a short add-on to a longer Asia itinerary, or a group of friends. If this is your once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon, spend more for an outer atoll.
Skip it if You want gourmet food or a remote, empty-horizon setting.
Our category scores
Pros
- Lowest all-inclusive price we found, with free transfers

- Close to Malé: less remote feel
- Wi-Fi gaps on the beach

8Best for active families on a budget
Kandima Maldives
Dhaalu Atoll, Maldives
$746–$822 per night for two · Booking.com, 2 adults, 7 nights Feb 10–17, 2027, Sky Studio/Beach Studio, premium all-inclusive incl. taxes and fees ($5,221–$5,754 total), checked Oct 2026.
Our take
Kandima is a big, social, activity-heavy island in Dhaalu Atoll with 270 studios and villas and about ten restaurants and bars. It feels more like a lively resort town than a hideaway, with a kids club, the PlaySpace entertainment zone, sports courts and what the resort calls the Maldives' longest e-go-kart circuit. Its Premium All Inclusive is well defined (Kandima). It covers buffets at Flavour and Zest, dinner at Smoked, Sea Dragon or Azure from a chef's menu, unlimited drinks by the glass at three bars during set hours, a daily wine-and-beer minibar, and an hour a day of snorkelling, kayaking or paddleboarding. Two children up to age 5 stay and eat free, and there's a four-paid-night minimum.
The price is fair: $5,221 for a week in a Sky Studio in February 2027, versus $2,501 with breakfast only. Kandima scores 8.7 on Booking.com across 1,210 reviews, below the 9+ resorts on this page, and the buffet is the reason. Recent reviewers call it short on variety and taste.
Book it for families and friends who want things to do. Couples after romance and fine dining should pick Kanifushi or Iru Fushi.
Skip it if Food is your top priority, or you want a quiet couples' island.

What guests say
Beautiful island. Great facilities. We stayed in beach villa with pool with sunset view. Highly recommended.
Food in the buffet restaurant was not good, it was lacking variety and it simply wasn’t tasty.
Maybe desserts could be improved

Pros & cons
Maldives for an all-inclusive: why go, why not
Reasons to go
- One resort per island, so an all-inclusive plan covers everything you'll realistically do
- Warm all year, with highs of 86–89 °F every month
- Overwater villas, house reefs and year-round whale sharks in South Ari
- Premium plans now include champagne, à la carte dining and even free seaplanes
- Free 30-day visa on arrival for U.S. citizens
Reasons to think twice
- No nonstop flights from the U.S.; one stop and a long journey
- Transfers can add $500–$1,200 for two if not included
- Taxes add roughly 30% to resort-site prices
- Seaplanes fly in daylight only, so late arrivals mean a night in Malé
- May and October–November are wet, and signature restaurants are usually extra
Seaplane, speedboat or domestic flight: transfer costs and times
After the meal plan, the transfer is the biggest hidden cost. Resorts near Malé use speedboats, and resorts in outer atolls use seaplanes or a domestic flight plus a short boat ride. Maldives Magazine's 2026 atoll guide (Maldives Magazine) gives these typical round-trip prices per person:
| Atoll | Transfer | Typical time | Round trip per person |
|---|---|---|---|
| North Malé | Speedboat | 15–45 min | About $50–$300 |
| South Malé | Speedboat | 15–60 min | Similar to North Malé |
| Ari (North and South) | Seaplane | 20–30 min | About $500–$600 |
| Noonu, Lhaviyani, Baa | Seaplane (or flight + boat) | 30–45 min | About $350–$600+ |
| Dhaalu | Seaplane or domestic flight + speedboat | 40–45 min | About $250–$600 |
Resort sites give similar figures. Niva Kuramathi is about 20 minutes by seaplane or 75–90 minutes by speedboat (Kuramathi FAQ). Siyam World and Iru Fushi are a 40-minute seaplane flight away, or a 30-minute domestic flight to Maafaru plus a 15-minute speedboat. Hurawalhi is about 40 minutes by seaplane, and that transfer is not included in its villa rate.
The daylight rule
Seaplanes fly in daylight only. Hurawalhi says flights run roughly 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the last seaplane usually leaves around 4 p.m. (Hurawalhi). If your international flight lands late, you'll spend a night in Malé or Hulhumalé at your own cost. Seaplane operator Trans Maldivian Airways allows 20 kg of checked bags and 5 kg of hand luggage per person, according to the Maldives travel company Resortlife.
Free-transfer offers
Several resorts now bundle transfers. Atmosphere Kanifushi, OZEN Life Maadhoo and OBLU Xperience Ailafushi were all listed with free transfers on Booking.com in October 2026. Siyam World's offer includes a free shared seaplane for two people on stays of seven nights or more, except from December 23, 2026 to January 10, 2027 (Sun Siyam).

Which atoll? Choosing among the all-inclusive resorts in the Maldives islands
The Maldives has dozens of resort islands spread across its atolls, and the atoll decides your transfer time, price and marine life.
| Atoll | Why go | Trade-off | Our picks there |
|---|---|---|---|
| North Malé (Kaafu) | Short speedboat ride, cheapest transfers, late arrivals possible | Busier waters, views of Malé's development | OBLU Xperience Ailafushi, Club Med Kani |
| South Malé | Speedboat access with a more remote feel | Fewer budget options | OZEN Life Maadhoo |
| North Ari / Rasdhoo | Big reef life, 20-min seaplane | Seaplane cost unless included | Niva Kuramathi |
| South Ari | Whale sharks, which LUX* South Ari Atoll says are present year-round | Seaplane only | LUX* South Ari Atoll (see below) |
| Noonu | Newer, larger resorts with lots of activities | 40-min seaplane | Siyam World, Sun Siyam Iru Fushi |
| Lhaviyani | Quiet, good beaches | 30–40 min seaplane | Hurawalhi, Atmosphere Kanifushi |
| Dhaalu | Value, domestic flight + boat option | Longer journey | Kandima |
Two more worth knowing
LUX* South Ari Atoll has 193 villas along about two miles of beach, a 25-minute seaplane from Malé, and an optional all-inclusive supplement. The supplement covers buffet breakfast, dine-around lunch and dinner at four venues, wine and cocktails, a minibar and a $30 daily spa credit (LUX*). It rates 4.9 on Tripadvisor from 7,974 reviews. Its 3-hour whale shark trip costs $155 per adult. Club Med Kani, about 25 minutes by boat from the airport in North Malé, includes an open bar, kids' clubs for ages 0–17 and non-motorized water sports. Overwater suites, the spa and premium excursions cost extra (Club Med). We couldn't gather enough recent guest reviews on either to rate them alongside our eight picks.

Best time to visit the Maldives (monsoon seasons explained)
The Maldives is warm all year. Highs sit between 86 °F and 89 °F every month, and the water stays warm, so the question is rain and price. Malé's 1991–2020 climate normals (Wikipedia) show a short dry season. February averages just 1.5 inches of rain and March 1.9 inches. The wetter months run from April through January, peaking in May (9.4 inches) and October (9.7 inches).
What that means for booking
- January to April is the driest and most expensive period, and the most reliable for calm seas and seaplane flights. Christmas and New Year carry the highest rates. Siyam World blacks out its free-transfer offer from December 23 to January 10.
- May to November is wetter and often cheaper, with more promotions. Hard Rock Hotel Maldives, for example, offered free transfers for stays from March to October 2026. Rain typically comes in bursts rather than all day, but some days will be grey and windy.
- Whale sharks are a year-round draw in South Ari, according to LUX*, so marine life is less tied to season than the weather is.
We rate July and August as medium on price, because European school holidays fill resorts even in the wetter season.

Flights from the U.S. and arriving in Malé
There are no nonstop flights from the United States to Velana International Airport (MLE). The usual routes go via a Gulf hub: Emirates through Dubai, Qatar Airways through Doha and Etihad through Abu Dhabi. Turkish Airlines connects through Istanbul, British Airways through London Heathrow and Singapore Airlines through Singapore (Wikipedia). Velana opened a new passenger terminal in July 2025.
Time your arrival around the seaplane
Because seaplanes stop flying in the late afternoon, choose a connection that lands in Malé by early afternoon if your resort is in an outer atoll. If you can't, either pick a speedboat resort in North or South Malé for the first nights, or budget for a hotel night in Hulhumalé near the airport.
Entry
U.S. citizens get a free 30-day visa on arrival. You need a passport valid for at least one month, a confirmed return ticket and a prepaid booking at a registered resort or hotel. You must also submit the free IMUGA traveller declaration within 96 hours before arrival (Wikipedia). Check the Maldives Immigration rules again just before you fly.

What a Maldives all-inclusive really costs (7 nights for two)
We priced every resort on Booking.com for two adults, February 10–17, 2027 (Hurawalhi March 3–10, because our first dates were unavailable). We checked in October 2026 and recorded the cheapest all-inclusive rates shown, with taxes and fees included:
| Resort | 7 nights, all-inclusive | Per night | Transfers |
|---|---|---|---|
| OBLU Xperience Ailafushi | $5,033–$5,357 | $719–$765 | Free (listing) |
| Niva Kuramathi | $4,877–$5,842 | $697–$835 | Extra |
| Kandima | $5,221–$5,754 | $746–$822 | Listing advertised 50% off |
| Atmosphere Kanifushi | $8,312–$10,348 | $1,187–$1,478 | Free (listing) |
| Sun Siyam Iru Fushi | $9,771–$14,396 | $1,396–$2,057 | Free-transfer offer on site |
| Siyam World | $10,536–$13,145 | $1,505–$1,878 | Free on 7+ nights (offer) |
| OZEN Life Maadhoo | $12,564–$13,339 | $1,795–$1,906 | Free (listing) |
| Hurawalhi | $15,345 | $2,192 | Extra seaplane |
The taxes behind the totals
Maldives resort bills carry a 10% service charge, 17% T-GST and a green tax of $12 per person per night (Sun Siyam). Booking.com showed our totals as including taxes and fees. Resort sites often quote before tax, so add about 30% before comparing.
Tipping
The service charge is built in. Many guests still leave something for their butler, housekeeper or dive guide. That is optional, and there is no fixed norm.
For discount timing and flash sales elsewhere, see our all-inclusive deals page, and for other bucket-list resorts see our luxury all-inclusive guide.
Adults-only vs. family all-inclusives
Adults-only: Hurawalhi is a 90-villa adults-only island in Lhaviyani with an All-Inclusive Plus plan. OBLU Select Lobigili near Malé is another adults-only option. Maldives Magazine describes its Lobi Plan as including the Only Blu underwater restaurant and Moët & Chandon, but we didn't verify current terms. Several resorts on this page, including Iru Fushi, also have adults-only bars or pools within family resorts. See our adults-only all-inclusive guide and honeymoon picks for more.
Families: Siyam World is built for kids. It has the country's largest floating water park, a horse ranch, go-karts, Kidz World for ages 3–11 and two- to four-bedroom villas. Sun Siyam Iru Fushi's kids-stay-and-eat-free offer covers up to two children under 15 sharing with two adults. At Kandima, two children up to age 5 stay and eat free on every meal plan, and there's a kids club and the PlaySpace activity zone. Niva Kuramathi has the Bageecha kids club for ages 3–12. For more family-tested options, see our family all-inclusive guide.
Safety, rules and etiquette
The U.S. State Department rates the Maldives Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution because of terrorism risk, noting that attacks could target tourist locations and that response times on remote islands can be long (State Department). In practice, resort islands are self-contained and access is controlled.
The Maldives is a Muslim country, and resort islands are where alcohol and bikinis are standard. If you visit a local inhabited island on an excursion, dress modestly and don't expect bars. Several of our picks include a local-island visit in their plans: Iru Fushi, Kuramathi (Rasdhoo) and Siyam World.
Medical care on resorts is basic, and serious cases go to Malé by speedboat or seaplane. Travel insurance with evacuation cover is sensible.
Mistakes to avoid when booking a Maldives all-inclusive
- Comparing pre-tax and post-tax prices. Resort sites often exclude the 10% service charge, 17% T-GST and $12 green tax, while booking sites usually include them.
- Forgetting the transfer. Seaplane tickets can add $500–$1,200 for two if they aren't bundled.
- Landing after 3 p.m. You may miss the last seaplane and pay for a night in Malé.
- Assuming every restaurant is included. Hurawalhi's 5.8 Undersea Restaurant and Champagne Pavilion are outside the plan, Kuramathi and Iru Fushi mark premium dishes, and specialty dinners usually cost extra.
- Overpacking. Seaplanes limit you to 20 kg checked and 5 kg hand luggage per person.
- Booking a short stay on a far atoll. Transfer costs are fixed, so the farther the resort, the more nights you need to make the trip pay off.
- Ignoring minimum stays. Kuramathi requires 3 nights for all-inclusive and 4 for Dine Around, and Kandima requires 4 paid nights for its premium plan.

What travel-forum regulars say
Travel-forum consensus
This summary draws on the Tripadvisor Maldives forum and two 2025 Mumsnet holiday threads. The forum's standing answer to "is all-inclusive worth it?" is that it depends on the island and on how much you drink. Extras carry roughly 23% tax and service charge on top, so regulars say the plan usually beats half board if you are happy to eat and drink where it allows. They also warn that basic tiers often cover only the buffet and house spirits, and advise comparing the resort's menus and price list with the cost of the upgrade. That is why our top picks, Sun Siyam Iru Fushi and Atmosphere Kanifushi, are priced on premium plans. Families are steered to big islands with kids' clubs and plenty to do: Kuramathi is praised for its house reef and children's activities, and Siyam World for overwater villas with slides and an adults-only bar and beach. Two other points come up repeatedly. A house reef you can swim to from the beach matters more than first-timers expect, and many parents would rather take a speedboat from Malé than a seaplane after a long-haul flight, which favours islands near the airport such as OBLU Xperience Ailafushi. Two posters also said that phoning the resort directly or using a specialist agent saved them money.
Regulars answer that it depends on the island and the individual: if you are happy to stick to what the plan covers, all-inclusive is usually cheaper than half board, but one poster found an all-inclusive buffet poor enough that paying à la carte would have been the better deal.
A family with a 4-year-old asking for alternatives to Lux South Ari Atoll heard that Kuramathi has a great house reef and kids' club and Siyam World is bigger and very child-friendly, while OBLU Helengeli's lagoon suits adults better than small children. Posters called a swimmable house reef essential, and one saved 20% by booking direct with the resort.
A returning Siyam World guest, already rebooked for the next Easter, praised overwater villas with slides into the sea, plenty of pools and an adults-only bar and beach. Another reply advised checking kids' club age limits and noted that many families prefer a speedboat from Malé to a seaplane after a long flight.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is the best all-inclusive resort in the Maldives?
For most travellers we'd pick Sun Siyam Iru Fushi in Noonu Atoll. Its 24-Hour Premium All-Inclusive includes à la carte dinners at five restaurants, a 24-hour bar, more than 66 wines by the glass, excursions and kids' club access, and it rates 9.4 on Booking.com and 4.8 on Tripadvisor. Atmosphere Kanifushi is the better value. Hurawalhi is the best adults-only option.
How much does an all-inclusive in the Maldives cost?
On Booking.com for a week in February 2027 (two adults, taxes included), all-inclusive rates ranged from about $5,000 at OBLU Xperience Ailafushi and Niva Kuramathi to about $8,300 at Atmosphere Kanifushi, $9,800 at Sun Siyam Iru Fushi and $15,300 at Hurawalhi. That works out to roughly $720–$2,190 a night. Add flights, plus transfers if they aren't included.
What is the difference between full board and all-inclusive in the Maldives?
Full board covers three meals, usually buffets, with only tea, coffee or water. All-inclusive adds drinks such as house spirits, wine by the glass and beer, often a minibar and some activities. Premium or dine-around plans add à la carte restaurants, better labels and excursions. At Kuramathi, all-inclusive cost only about $100–$200 a night more than full board on our dates.
Are seaplane transfers included in Maldives all-inclusive packages?
Sometimes. Atmosphere Kanifushi, OZEN Life Maadhoo and OBLU Xperience Ailafushi were listed with free transfers in October 2026, and Siyam World includes a shared seaplane for two on 7+ night stays outside the holidays. Others, such as Hurawalhi, charge separately. Typical round trips run about $250–$600+ per person by seaplane and $50–$300 by speedboat.
When is the best time to go to the Maldives?
January to April is the driest period. Malé averages 1.5 inches of rain in February and 1.9 in March, compared with 9–10 inches in May and October. It's also the most expensive time, especially over Christmas and New Year. May to November is wetter but cheaper, with more promotions such as free transfers.
Is JA Manafaru all-inclusive?
JA Manafaru is in Haa Alifu Atoll in the far north of the Maldives. In October 2026 its website was advertising a stay-7-nights-pay-for-5 winter offer. Its current all-inclusive inclusions were not confirmed for this guide, so ask the resort for the meal-plan sheet in writing before you book. Because the resort is so far north, also check how the domestic flight and boat transfer are priced.
Do you need a visa for the Maldives from the U.S.?
No advance visa is needed. U.S. citizens get a free 30-day visa on arrival if they have a passport valid for at least one month, a confirmed return ticket and a prepaid booking at a registered resort or hotel. You must also complete the free IMUGA traveller declaration within 96 hours before arriving. Rules can change, so check Maldives Immigration before you travel.
Which Maldives all-inclusive is best for families?
Siyam World is the most kid-focused. It has a floating water park, horse ranch, go-karts, Kidz World for ages 3–11 and multi-bedroom villas. Kandima is cheaper, with two children up to age 5 staying and eating free and a busy activity programme. Sun Siyam Iru Fushi's kids-stay-and-eat-free offer covers up to two children under 15.
