Quick answer
- The best all inclusive resorts in 2026: Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana is our best overall (4.9/5, Tripadvisor's No. 1 all-inclusive in the Caribbean), Grand Velas Los Cabos is the best luxury pick (5.0, No. 1 in Mexico) and Grand Velas Riviera Maya has the strongest food reviews.
- Best beach: Beaches Turks & Caicos on Grace Bay. Best swim-up rooms: Beloved Playa Mujeres. Best for families: Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana. Best value: S Hotel Montego Bay at $484 to $657 a night.
- 10 of our 14 picks hold Tripadvisor's 2026 Best of the Best badge, which goes to fewer than 1% of listings; Grand Velas Los Cabos is also Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star.
- Expect about $480 to $1,400 a night for two at most of these resorts on Kayak averages; Jade Mountain runs $1,890 to $2,810 before its optional $230-per-person all-inclusive plan.
- Los Cabos resorts top the ratings but their beaches are mostly too rough to swim; for swimming, choose Grace Bay, Cap Cana's Juanillo Beach or Playa Maroma, outside peak seaweed season.
Our verdict
Our verdict: the resorts we'd book first
If you book one resort from this list, make it Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana. It isn't the most glamorous, but it has the fewest weak spots: a 4.9 rating across nearly 9,750 Tripadvisor reviews, the top spot among Caribbean all-inclusives for 2026, a beach you can swim at and an airport 6.4 miles away. Families should book its twin, Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana. For a bigger budget, Grand Velas Los Cabos delivers the best service in Mexico and Grand Velas Riviera Maya the strongest food reviews of any all-inclusive we compared, with tips included at both; just don't expect to swim off the beach in Los Cabos. Couples who want a swim-up suite should look at Beloved Playa Mujeres, and anyone who hates crowds should consider Coco Plum Island Resort in Belize, which caps guests at 48. The best value is S Hotel Montego Bay. Our least consistent pick, Beaches Turks & Caicos, makes the list because nothing else matches its beach and kids' program. Every score here is based on October 2026 ratings, recent reviews, prices and what's included.

How we ranked the best all-inclusive resorts
We started with every all-inclusive in Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America on Tripadvisor's 2026 Best of the Best lists for the world, Mexico and the Caribbean. Tripadvisor says Best of the Best goes to fewer than 1% of its 8 million listings, based on a high volume of excellent reviews over 12 months. We then cross-checked that shortlist against U.S. News' 2026 Best Hotels rankings, Condé Nast Traveler's 2025 Readers' Choice Awards, Forbes Travel Guide star ratings and what regulars say on Tripadvisor's destination forums.
For each resort we gathered:
- Ratings from Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Kayak, checked in October 2026, with review counts so you can see how much weight each score carries
- Recent review patterns, mostly from June to October 2026, looking for complaints that repeat rather than one-off rants
- Real prices: Kayak's average nightly rates for each resort's cheapest and most expensive months
- What's included, especially tips, airport transfers, premium drinks and restaurant access
Each resort gets six sub-scores out of 10: food, beach, rooms, service, activities and value. The overall score is our judgment informed by those, not a formula; food, service and the beach count most, because they're what guests rave or complain about most. Then we gave every resort a job, such as best food or best for families, so the list works as a decision tool rather than a beauty contest. The order reflects how well each resort suits most travelers, not the overall score alone, so a few resorts with higher scores sit lower down because they cost more, have a beach you can't swim at or suit a narrower group. We didn't stay at these resorts as guests, and no resort paid to appear.
Near misses
- Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya was Tripadvisor's No. 1 all-inclusive in the world for 2025 and still scores 9.5 on Booking.com, but it didn't make the 2026 Best of the Best lists.
- JOIA Bávaro by Iberostar is No. 14 on the 2026 Caribbean list and No. 1 of 56 hotels in Bávaro (4.8 from 16,000-plus reviews), at $448 to $988 a night. It narrowly missed our top 14; if you want Punta Cana for less than the Cap Cana Hyatts, it's the first resort we'd look at.
- Hermitage Bay in Antigua (No. 8 in the Caribbean) and Ambergris Cay in Turks & Caicos (No. 2) are small, high-end resorts we have less price data for; see our luxury all-inclusive guide.

Our take
Our No. 1 is the resort with the fewest weak spots. Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana is Tripadvisor's top all-inclusive in the Caribbean for 2026 and No. 17 in the world, rated 4.9 across about 9,750 reviews, and it was No. 5 worldwide in 2025, so this isn't a one-year blip. Guests score its location, service and cleanliness 4.9 each on Tripadvisor and its value a still-strong 4.7. What sets it apart from flashier rivals is consistency: food that reassures guests with serious allergies, pools that stay clean, and a beach on Juanillo you can swim at for most of the year. It's also 6.4 miles from Punta Cana's airport, which matters on a five-night trip. The case against it is price, with Kayak averages from $648 a night in September to $1,139 in February, plus 2026 complaints about scaffolding near some balconies and a few housekeeping lapses. Seaweed reaches the beach in season. Families who want the same beach should book the all-ages Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana next door, our family pick.
Skip it if You want nightlife or off-resort restaurants within walking distance; Cap Cana is gated and quiet.

What guests say
A September 2026 guest with serious food allergies said staff made every meal feel safe, a theme that recurs across recent reviews alongside praise for the pools and premium food.
August 2026 honeymooners loved the staff but said construction scaffolding blocked their balcony and the replacement room was smaller; another August guest reported an unexpected card charge and a room that was not clean on arrival.
Service was excellent, bed could be better, price way too high

Our take
Grand Velas Los Cabos is the highest-rated all-inclusive in Mexico, and on the evidence it earns the title. Tripadvisor's 2026 awards rank it No. 1 in Mexico and No. 8 in the world, with a perfect 5.0 rating from about 2,500 reviews and the No. 1 spot among 93 hotels in Cabo San Lucas. Forbes Travel Guide lists it as Five-Star, and Grand Velas says its Cocina de Autor restaurant holds a Michelin star; there are eight restaurants in all, plus Kids' and Teens' Clubs. Reviewers rave about the concierges and the way problems get fixed fast. Two things keep it out of our top spot. First, the beach on the Sea of Cortez isn't swimmable because of strong surf, so you'll swim in the pools or walk to a safer stretch down the coast. Second, the price: Kayak averages run from $1,369 a night in October to $1,928 in February, and some guests mention dated rooms and rate increases. It's 13.5 miles from Los Cabos International. If you want the best service in Mexico and don't need to swim in the sea, book it.
Skip it if Ocean swimming is a must, or you're uncomfortable paying more than $1,300 a night for an all-inclusive.

What guests say
An October 2026 family with a young child praised attentive staff, excellent food at every restaurant and an engaging kids' club; they noted the beach isn't swimmable because of strong surf but said the pools make up for it.
An October 2026 couple singled out the concierge team and a Cocina de Autor dinner, and said staff handled a medical issue quickly and with care.
Tripadvisor's review summary notes that some guests find the rooms somewhat dated and point to high prices and occasional rate increases.
Amazing time! The teen club is so exceptional that our 13 year old daughter begged to go every night, which never happens.

Our take
If the meals are the point of your vacation, this is the all-inclusive to book. Grand Velas says Cocina de Autor at Grand Velas Riviera Maya has kept its Michelin star for three straight years, which is still remarkable for a restaurant included in a resort rate, and reviewers also single out Sen Lin and Lucca. Taxes, gratuities, top-shelf drinks and 24-hour suite service are included. Tripadvisor ranks it No. 2 among Mexico's all-inclusives for 2026 and No. 11 in the world, on a 4.8 rating from about 7,000 reviews, and Forbes Travel Guide rates it Four-Star. The resort splits into three areas, so families (Kids' Club for ages 4 to 12, Teens' Club for 13 to 18) and couples (the 16-and-over Grand Class section) can share one trip without sharing a pool. The beach is the weak spot: narrow, with seaweed in season and rocks underfoot. Book the signature restaurants weeks before you arrive. Kayak averages run from $977 to $1,398 a night, and tips and taxes are already in that figure.
Skip it if The beach is your top priority, or you can't justify luxury prices for an all-inclusive.

What guests say
A guest on a September 2026 birthday trip with friends praised the concierge team, pool staff and spotless rooms, and called the resort strong value for an all-inclusive.
A returning family in August 2026 loved the staff, concierges and kids' club but found housekeeping less thorough than on earlier visits and was disappointed by the Frida restaurant.
Across recent reviews, guests describe the beach as narrow, with seaweed and rocks in the water, and recommend water shoes and booking dinner reservations weeks in advance.

Our take
Secrets Maroma Beach earns its place for the sand. Playa Maroma is one of the prettiest beaches on the Riviera Maya, and the resort pairs it with service that keeps a 4.8 rating across more than 26,000 Tripadvisor reviews. Tripadvisor ranks it No. 3 among Mexico's all-inclusives and No. 12 in the world for 2026, after No. 4 worldwide in 2025. It's adults-only, about 21 miles from Cancun's airport as the crow flies, and recent guests praise the World Café, the Preferred Club upgrade and staff who go out of their way for celebrations. Before you book, know the 2026 caveats: construction noise, summer sargassum, pricey extras and a vacation-club pitch that several reviewers found pushy. Nightlife is low-key. The upside of its seasonality is a big discount: Kayak's averages fall from $1,258 a night in February to $480 in August, the widest seasonal swing of any resort on our list. If you can travel in late spring before the seaweed builds, or in fall after it fades, you get the beach at a much better price.
Skip it if You want a party atmosphere or you're traveling with anyone under 18.

What guests say
A September 2026 reviewer praised the warm, personal touches and the high quality of the food, especially at the World Café, and called the resort a safe bet to return to.
An August 2026 guest enjoyed the food, service and spa but complained about a hard sales pitch for a vacation club, construction noise, seaweed on the beach and high incidental costs such as toiletries.
An October 2026 reviewer loved the beach, pool service and food but said the entertainment was weak, with football nights in place of live shows, and noted construction under way.

5Best small-island escape
Coco Plum Island Resort

Guest ratings
Tripadvisor5.0/5 · 2,845Kayak9.8/10 · 9Booking.com9.8/10 · 6Checked Oct 2026; review counts in grey.
Our take
Coco Plum Island Resort is the surprise of Tripadvisor's 2026 rankings and the most personal resort on our list. The adults-only, locally owned resort occupies its own 16-acre caye about 9 miles off Dangriga in southern Belize, with 21 cabanas and no more than 48 guests at a time. Tripadvisor ranks it No. 7 among all-inclusives in the world for 2026 (it was No. 9 in 2025) with a perfect 5.0 rating across about 2,850 reviews, and guests score its service a full 5.0. Reviewers describe staff who treat them like friends, guided snorkeling trips, yoga, and a kitchen that handles gluten-free and picky eaters. The package covers meals, local beers and mixed drinks, transfers from Belize City's airport and scheduled snorkel tours, but imported liquor and wine cost extra. The trade-offs are the ones you'd expect from a small island: a long journey to get there, two pools rather than a resort complex, and no nightlife. A few reviewers mention older rooms and confusion over what packages include. Rates are by quote, so compare the package against a resort that publishes prices.
Skip it if You want nightlife, many restaurants or a resort you can reach in under an hour from the airport.
Our category scores
Pros

What guests say
A couple on a 10th-anniversary trip in October 2026 praised the reservations team, wide food options for a picky eater, snorkeling tours, yoga and a specially set dinner table.
A guest who stayed in July 2026 praised the staff, gluten-free meals, snorkeling and massages, but noted that getting to the island is a long journey.
Tripadvisor's review summary says some guests mention problems with extra beds or older rooms and occasional confusion about what is included in packages.

6Best swim-up rooms
Beloved Playa Mujeres
Playa Mujeres, north of Cancun, Mexico
$479–$898 per night for two · Kayak average nightly rates for the resort's cheapest and priciest months, checked October 2026 (September low, February high)
Our take
Beloved Playa Mujeres is where we'd book a swim-up suite. The couples-only resort is small for the area, with 109 rooms on Tripadvisor's listing, and its ground-floor swim-up suites come with a patio, a private whirlpool and direct access to the pool, according to Kayak's listing. Tripadvisor rates it 4.8 across about 9,600 reviews and gave it a 2026 Best of the Best badge (No. 15 among Mexico's all-inclusives), and the Excellence Collection lists it among Condé Nast Traveler readers' 2025 picks for Eastern Mexico. Reviewers keep using the same words: calm, never crowded, attentive. It's 15 miles from Cancun's airport on the quiet Playa Mujeres strip, beside its sister resorts Excellence Playa Mujeres and Finest Playa Mujeres. The 2026 negatives are worth weighing, though: two August reviewers described construction work around their casita and intermittent hot water, and felt their complaints were handled poorly. Kayak's averages run from $479 a night in September to $898 in February, which is reasonable for this level of privacy.
Skip it if You want nightlife or a big resort with lots of restaurants and activities.

What guests say
An October 2026 reviewer praised the staff, food and couples-only atmosphere and said the resort never felt crowded or loud.
A returning guest in October 2026 noticed renovated rooms and better food options, but felt the leadership team was less visible than on earlier visits.
An August 2026 guest said construction and concrete work around their casita made the stay unbearable; they were moved to another room without a refund and found the service scripted at times.

Our take
Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos is our pick for adults who want luxury, a serious spa and very little noise. It's adults-only with 373 rooms in San José del Cabo, rated 4.8 across about 3,860 Tripadvisor reviews, No. 2 of 57 hotels in the town, and No. 8 on Tripadvisor's 2026 list of Mexico's all-inclusives (it was No. 16 in the world in 2025). Booking.com guests score it 9.3, and Forbes Travel Guide rates it Four-Star. Reviewers single out the hydrotherapy spa, the butlers and the French-leaning restaurants, and the October 2026 reviews are glowing about staff. The weaknesses are typical of Cabo luxury: the beach in front isn't suitable for swimming, there's an upsell culture around room upgrades and extras, evening entertainment is limited, and downtown Cabo San Lucas is a drive away. A 1:30 pm checkout is a welcome perk. Kayak's averages run from $962 a night in August to $1,366 in February, a little below Grand Velas Los Cabos.

8Best once-in-a-lifetime splurge
Jade Mountain
Soufrière, St. Lucia

Our take
Jade Mountain isn't a classic all-inclusive, and that's the point. Its 29 sanctuaries are open on one side to views of St. Lucia's Pitons, most with a private infinity pool, and the all-inclusive meal plan is an add-on: the resort's published rates list it at $230 per person per day (a breakfast-and-dinner plan is $135), with 20% VAT, service charges and a tourism levy on top. Tripadvisor rates it 4.8 from about 1,350 reviews with a 2026 Best of the Best badge, Booking.com guests give it a perfect 10, and U.S. News' 2026 list of the Caribbean's best all-inclusives, as reported by TravelPulse, is led by Jade Mountain. Reviewers praise the butlers, the farm-to-table food and the snorkeling at Anse Chastanet below. The catch list is specific: no air conditioning in the open-air rooms, so insects and birds visit; many stairs and steep paths; no children under 16; and value scores well below everything else. Kayak's room-rate averages run from $1,890 a night in June to $2,810 in December, before the meal plan.
Skip it if You need air conditioning, have limited mobility or want a traditional resort with many restaurants and nightlife.

What guests say
A returning guest on the all-inclusive plan in October 2026 praised the service, chefs and food, but listed bugs, the lack of air conditioning and the many stairs as drawbacks.
An August 2026 reviewer praised their butler, a room upgrade, yoga classes and the resort's local sourcing of food.
It was the vacation dreams are made of; nothing short of perfection.

Our take
Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana is the all-ages twin of our No. 1 pick, and it's our best family all-inclusive for most families. It shares Juanillo Beach with Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana, 6.3 miles from Punta Cana's airport, and adds a water park, kids' activities and dining that one October 2026 family said suited every age in their group. Tripadvisor rates it 4.9 across about 7,570 reviews, No. 3 of 11 hotels in Cap Cana, and Booking.com guests give it 8.9. The 2026 complaints are worth knowing: a September guest found heavy seaweed on the beach and limited hours at the water park and kids' area, a July reviewer felt the Club Level upgrade added little, and others mention crowded pool loungers and slow restaurant service at peak times. Kayak's averages run from $630 a night in October to $1,275 in December, so school-holiday trips get expensive. For younger kids who want Sesame Street and a giant waterpark, Beaches Turks & Caicos is the bigger splurge; for most families, this is the better all-round resort.
Skip it if You're a couple who wants quiet; book the adults-only Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana next door instead.
Our category scores
Pros

What guests say
An October 2026 family found the food, staff and kids' activities excellent and said the resort suits all ages.
A September 2026 reviewer was positive overall but criticized heavy seaweed on the beach, limited hours at the water park and kids' area, and a closed ice-cream truck.
A July 2026 guest felt the Club Level offered little extra value and complained about crowded pool chairs, slow and inconsistent restaurant service, and disorganized family activities.

Our take
Excellence Playa Mujeres is the adults-only resort we'd pick for couples who want energy as well as polish. With 450 rooms and a 4.8 Tripadvisor rating across more than 29,000 reviews, it has the biggest review base of any resort on our list, and guests describe it as lively but easy to escape, with entertainment at night and quiet corners by day. It sits on the Playa Mujeres strip north of Cancun, 15 miles from the airport, and the Excellence Collection lists it among Condé Nast Traveler readers' 2025 picks for Eastern Mexico. Swim-up suites are a big draw; an August 2026 reviewer singled out an attentive server who looked after theirs. Recent complaints center on 2026 renovations (construction noise and Wi-Fi dead zones), crowded loungers and an Excellence Club upgrade that one September guest didn't think was worth the money. Kayak's averages run from $519 a night in September to $913 in February, good value at this level, and sister resort Beloved next door is the quieter, couples-only alternative.
Skip it if You want a hushed, romantic hideaway; book Beloved next door instead.

Our take
Value isn't the same as cheap, and S Hotel Montego Bay proves it. At $484 to $657 a night on Kayak averages, it's one of the least expensive resorts on this list, yet Tripadvisor ranks it No. 1 of 65 hotels in Montego Bay with a 4.9 rating, gave it a 2026 Best of the Best badge and placed it No. 11 among the world's all-inclusives in 2025. The boutique hotel opened in 2019 with about 120 rooms on the Hip Strip, 1.5 miles from Sangster International, so you lose almost no vacation time to transfers. Reviewers from July to October 2026 describe quick problem-solving, butler-style service in the suites and a calm, grown-up atmosphere, which also shows it has been running normally since Hurricane Melissa. The limits are real: a small restaurant line-up, few organized activities and none of the big-resort extras. Make sure your rate includes the all-inclusive package, because room-only rates are sold too. For a long weekend or a first taste of Jamaica, nothing else on this list gives you as much for the money.
Skip it if You want a sprawling resort with many restaurants, kids' clubs and motorized water sports.

What guests say
A couple celebrating a birthday in September 2026 praised their suite, calm water at the beach and a butler who handled morning coffee, bath preparation and custom dining.
A July 2026 guest called it an intimate, upscale choice for a calm stay rather than a lively one, praising the staff, dining, spa and upkeep.
Some guests find the food options limited; one reviewer said the standard menus felt modest for a luxury boutique hotel, though staff prepared custom dishes on request.

Our take
Sandals Royal Plantation is one of the smallest Sandals resorts and the one we'd pick for a quiet couples' trip to Jamaica. Every room is a butler suite, there are just 74 of them on Tripadvisor's listing, and the resort has its own beaches on the north coast at Ocho Rios. Tripadvisor ranks it No. 3 among the Caribbean's all-inclusives and No. 19 in the world for 2026, rated 4.7 from about 4,110 reviews. Sandals includes tips, transfers and premium drinks, and guests can shuttle to the bigger Sandals Ochi nearby for livelier nights. Getting there got easier, too: Sandals says American Airlines now flies nonstop from Miami to Ocho Rios on Wednesdays and Saturdays, about 20 minutes from the resort. Recent reviewers praise the butlers, snorkeling trips and calm. Some find the bathrooms dated, the food bland and the crowd of repeat guests a little cliquey, and Booking.com's 7.8 is well below its Tripadvisor score. Kayak averages run from $963 a night in August to $1,196 in February.

What guests say
An October 2026 couple praised the butler service, the quiet atmosphere, the free shuttle to sister resorts for livelier evenings and the snorkeling trips.
A June 2026 guest praised the staff and butlers but was disappointed by dated bathrooms, bland food and a clique-like atmosphere among frequent returning guests.
The grounds were well kept, the staff is very friendly, and the resort is small and intimate.

Our take
Hotel Xcaret Arte is the all-inclusive for people who get restless at the pool. The adults-only, 900-room resort south of Playa del Carmen is built around art and Mexican culture, and its rate bundles access to Grupo Xcaret's parks plus airport transfers, which is real money if you'd otherwise buy park day passes. Tripadvisor guests rate it 4.7 from about 6,930 reviews and Booking.com guests give it 9.2 from 355. Recent reviewers praise the architecture, the rooftop pools, the cleanliness and the parks themselves. The flip side shows up in 2026 reviews too: one August guest said the stay felt dominated by upselling, extra charges and persistent pitches for memberships and photo packages, and a June guest reported slow room service and a dining dispute on departure day. It's about 34 miles from Cancun's airport. Kayak's averages barely move through the year, from $947 a night in June to $1,037 in February, so there's no real off-season bargain; the value comes from what you'd otherwise spend on park tickets.
Skip it if You want to stay put on a big beach, or sales pitches ruin your mood.

Our take
For the beach alone, Beaches Turks & Caicos is hard to beat. It sits on Grace Bay, which Beaches advertises as Tripadvisor travelers' top beach in the world, with typically calm, reef-sheltered water that works for small kids. Add 23 restaurants, 14 bars, 10 pools, a 45,000-square-foot waterpark, Sesame Street characters, Kids Camp with certified nannies and scuba for certified divers, all with tips, taxes and airport transfers included, and it's the most complete family package in the Caribbean. The new Treasure Beach Village is open, and United plans Denver nonstops from Dec. 16, 2026. It ranks last on our list for one reason: consistency. With 758 rooms, 2026 reviews describe a hectic resort with dated rooms in places, dinner reservations and snorkel gear that ran out, and slow fixes, which is why it rates 4.3 on Tripadvisor and 7.9 on Booking.com. At $897 to $1,781 a night on Kayak averages, go in with your eyes open, book as early as you can and plan your must-do restaurants on day one.

What guests say
A September 2026 family praised the many included activities, such as water sports and boat outings, the friendly staff and the beach, and rebooked before leaving.
An August 2026 guest said dinner reservations and snorkel equipment were unavailable, bookings could not be made before arrival, and they ended up paying for a private snorkel trip, so the value felt poor.
A June 2026 family loved the waterpark and dining but said the air conditioning failed for three days, a restaurant reservation request was lost and compensation requests went unanswered.

Best all-inclusive beach resorts: where you can actually swim
The highest-rated resorts aren't always the best for the beach. Los Cabos tops the ratings, but reviewers at Grand Velas Los Cabos, Le Blanc Los Cabos and Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos all say the ocean in front is too rough to swim. If beach time matters, start here:
| Beach | Resort | Swimming | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grace Bay, Turks & Caicos | Beaches Turks & Caicos | Typically calm, reef-sheltered water | Crowds at a 758-room resort |
| Playa Maroma, Riviera Maya | Secrets Maroma Beach | Good | Sargassum in late spring and summer |
| Juanillo Beach, Cap Cana | Hyatt Zilara and Ziva Cap Cana | Good | Seaweed in season (reported September 2026) |
| Playa Mujeres, north of Cancun | Beloved, Excellence Playa Mujeres | Good | Seaweed in season; quiet area |
| Coco Plum Cay, Belize | Coco Plum Island Resort | Snorkeling off the island | Small beach, long journey |
| Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen area | Grand Velas Riviera Maya | Fair | Narrow beach, rocks, seaweed |
| Sea of Cortez, Los Cabos | Grand Velas Los Cabos, Le Blanc | Poor | Strong surf and rip currents |
Seaweed is the biggest variable on the Caribbean side. The University of South Florida's Sargassum Watch reported that amounts were falling in September 2026 but still high compared with previous years for that month. Food is the most common reason guests downgrade an all-inclusive, so it's worth paying for. Our order:
- Grand Velas Riviera Maya and Grand Velas Los Cabos. Grand Velas says Cocina de Autor in both resorts holds a Michelin star, which it describes as three consecutive years of Michelin recognition, and its Los Cabos kitchen of eight restaurants is led by a Michelin-starred head chef. Reviewers praise Sen Lin and Lucca at Riviera Maya. Book signature dinners weeks ahead.
- Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos. French-leaning menus, 24-hour room service and oceanfront lunches get repeated praise, and Kayak's listing notes a gluten-free menu.
- Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana. Not haute cuisine, but the most consistent food praise in the Caribbean in 2026, especially for handling allergies.
- Jade Mountain. Farm-to-table cooking with local produce, if you choose the meal plan.
- Secrets Maroma Beach. The World Café gets singled out, and food scores stay high across 26,000-plus reviews.
At the other end, reviewers at bigger family resorts such as Beaches Turks & Caicos and Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos more often describe the food as fine but repetitive. A useful rule: the more à la carte restaurants per room, and the fewer reservation hoops, the better guests rate the food.
Best all-inclusive resorts with swim-up rooms
Swim-up rooms open from your terrace straight into a pool channel. They're the most requested upgrade in Mexico and the Caribbean, and the best ones are at resorts small enough to keep the channels quiet.
- Beloved Playa Mujeres: ground-floor swim-up suites with a patio, private whirlpool and direct pool access, according to Kayak's listing, at a couples-only resort with 109 rooms.
- Excellence Playa Mujeres: a livelier adults-only option next door, rated 4.8 from 29,000-plus reviews. An August 2026 reviewer in a swim-up suite praised the server who looked after their section.
- Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana: swim-up suites at our No. 1 resort, though one 2026 review mentions pool bars limiting drink service for some swim-up guests.
Before you pay the premium, check three things: whether your channel gets afternoon sun or shade, whether it faces a busy walkway, and whether drink service actually reaches your terrace. Ground-floor rooms also trade views for convenience. The adults-only guide lists more resorts with swim-up suites.

The best places for all-inclusive resorts in 2026
- Riviera Maya and Cancun, Mexico. The deepest bench of top-rated resorts, from Secrets Maroma Beach to Grand Velas, plus short flights. See Riviera Maya and Cancun.
- Punta Cana and Cap Cana, Dominican Republic. Our No. 1 resort and the best value per night. See Punta Cana.
- Los Cabos, Mexico. The highest ratings and the best service, but beaches made for looking rather than swimming. See Cabo.
- Jamaica. Sandals' heartland and great boutique value, recovering from Hurricane Melissa. See Jamaica.
- Turks & Caicos. Grace Bay, at a price. See Turks & Caicos.
- St. Lucia. Scenery and romance; long transfers. See St. Lucia.
- Belize. Small island resorts on the barrier reef. See Belize.
- Aruba. Dry, outside the main hurricane track and ideal for fall. See Aruba.
All-inclusive resorts with casinos, and the best in the world
Casino resorts
Punta Cana has the most all-inclusives with their own casinos. Tripadvisor ratings in October 2026 for the best-known ones: Royalton Punta Cana Resort & Casino 4.4 (about 18,200 reviews), Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana 4.3 (about 43,100), Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort, Spa & Casino 4.2 (about 7,700) and Catalonia Bávaro Beach Golf & Casino Resort 4.0 (about 16,400). None of them made our top 14, but they're solid choices if a casino is a must. More in our Punta Cana guide.
Best all-inclusive resorts in the world
Our list sticks to the destinations most U.S. travelers book. Tripadvisor's 2026 world list is led by Emerald Maldives Resort and Spa (No. 1, rated 5.0), Patagonia Camp in Chile (No. 2) and Manta Island Resort in Belize (No. 3), with the Maldives taking several more spots. For long-haul ideas, see our guides to the Maldives, Greece and Europe, Bora Bora, Tahiti and Fiji and Bali and Thailand.
How to book a top-rated all-inclusive for less
- Travel in the shoulder months. For 11 of the 13 picks with published Kayak data, the cheapest month falls between August and October. The swings can be huge: Secrets Maroma Beach averages $480 a night in August and $1,258 in February, while Le Blanc Los Cabos runs $962 in August and $1,366 in February.
- Know which resorts don't discount. Hotel Xcaret Arte ($947 to $1,037) and Sandals Royal Plantation ($963 to $1,196) barely change price through the year, so book them for the dates you want.
- Be skeptical of club upgrades. 2026 reviewers at Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana and Excellence Playa Mujeres said the club level didn't feel worth it. Pay for an upgrade only when it includes something you'll use every day.
- Count the inclusions, not just the rate. Grand Velas, Sandals and Beaches include tips; Beaches and Sandals include transfers; Hotel Xcaret Arte includes park access. Those extras add up quickly over a week.
- Book peak weeks early. Christmas, Presidents' Day and spring break are the weeks to lock in first, especially at small resorts like Coco Plum (48 guests) and Jade Mountain (29 suites), which have very little inventory.

What travel-forum regulars say
Travel-forum consensus
On Tripadvisor's destination forums, the people who book all-inclusives every year are less impressed by rankings than by fit, and their advice from September and October 2026 lines up with our list in useful ways. In Punta Cana, destination experts comparing three resorts that share one beach told the asker to decide on food and drinks, and favored the adults-only Secrets resort over its neighbors for exactly that reason. In Cancun, regulars talked a first-timer out of paying for an upgraded section and pointed out that a big self-contained resort can keep adults busy for a week. On the Jamaica forum, the conversation is about recovery: posters are tracking which resorts have reopened since Hurricane Melissa, praising those that came back strong and warning that newly reopened properties may still be retraining staff. The common thread is to read the newest reviews, not just the score. All of the threads cited here come from Tripadvisor's destination forums.
Comparing three resorts on the same Bávaro beach, destination experts favored Secrets Royal Beach over Paradisus Palma Real for service, food and drinks, and pointed families to Dreams Royal Beach instead.
Cancun regulars told a first-time visitor that there's plenty to do at a large self-contained resort, that one day trip into the Hotel Zone was enough, and that an upgraded section wasn't necessary for adults.
A Montego Bay expert reported that Royalton Blue Waters officially reopened on Sept. 15, 2026 after its hurricane closure and warned that staff training could be an issue for months.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is the best all-inclusive resort in the world?
On Tripadvisor's 2026 Best of the Best list, Emerald Maldives Resort and Spa ranks No. 1 in the world, followed by Patagonia Camp in Chile. Closer to home, the highest-ranked are Coco Plum Island Resort in Belize (No. 7) and Grand Velas Los Cabos (No. 8). For most U.S. travelers, our pick is Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana, Tripadvisor's No. 1 all-inclusive in the Caribbean, because it combines a 4.9 rating with a swimmable beach and a short flight and transfer.
What is the best all-inclusive resort in Mexico?
Grand Velas Los Cabos is No. 1 on Tripadvisor's 2026 Mexico list with a 5.0 rating, and Forbes Travel Guide rates it Five-Star. Its beach isn't swimmable, though. If you want Caribbean water, Grand Velas Riviera Maya (No. 2, best food) and Secrets Maroma Beach (No. 3, adults-only, great beach) are the strongest alternatives. For a quieter couples' trip, Beloved Playa Mujeres has the best swim-up suites.
What is the best all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean?
Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic. It's No. 1 on Tripadvisor's 2026 Caribbean all-inclusive list, rated 4.9 across about 9,750 reviews, and 6.4 miles from Punta Cana's airport. Sandals Royal Plantation in Jamaica (No. 3) is the best small couples' resort, and Beaches Turks & Caicos has the best beach. U.S. News' 2026 Caribbean all-inclusive list, as reported by TravelPulse, is led by Jade Mountain in St. Lucia.
Which all-inclusive resort has the best food?
Grand Velas Riviera Maya, with Grand Velas Los Cabos close behind. Grand Velas says Cocina de Autor at both resorts holds a Michelin star, and the meals, top-shelf drinks, taxes and tips are all included. Le Blanc Los Cabos and Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana also earn consistent food praise in 2026 reviews. Whatever you book, ask how many à la carte dinners you can reserve and how far ahead.
What is the best all-inclusive resort for families?
Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana for most families: it's rated 4.9 on Tripadvisor, has a water park and kids' activities, and shares a swimmable beach with our No. 1 resort. For young children and a bigger budget, Beaches Turks & Caicos adds Grace Bay, a 45,000-square-foot waterpark, Sesame Street and certified nannies, with tips and transfers included, though 2026 reviews show it's less consistent. Grand Velas Riviera Maya is the luxury family choice.
Which all-inclusive resorts have the best swim-up rooms?
Beloved Playa Mujeres is our pick: its ground-floor swim-up suites have a patio, private whirlpool and direct pool access at a couples-only resort with just 109 rooms. Excellence Playa Mujeres next door is the livelier adults-only alternative, and Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana also offers swim-up suites. Before paying the premium, ask whether the pool channel is sunny or shaded and whether drink service reaches your terrace.
Are the top-rated all-inclusive resorts worth the money?
Often, but not always. A resort like S Hotel Montego Bay is rated 4.9 at $484 to $657 a night, while Beaches Turks & Caicos costs $897 to $1,781 and rates 4.3. What you pay for at the top end is consistency, better food and inclusions like tips and transfers. Compare what's included, read reviews from the last three months, and travel between August and October if you can.
When should I book an all-inclusive for winter 2027?
As soon as you know your dates for Christmas, Presidents' Day or spring break, especially at small resorts like Coco Plum Island Resort (48 guests) or Jade Mountain (29 suites). February is the most expensive month at most of our Mexico and Dominican Republic picks. For the lowest prices, look at late August through October instead, and add travel insurance for hurricane season.
