Quick answer
- The best Cabo all inclusive resorts for most couples are Grand Velas Los Cabos (a perfect 5.0/5 on Tripadvisor from 2,500 reviews) and adults-only Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos (4.8/5), but neither has a beach you can safely swim at.
- If ocean swimming matters, book on Medano Beach in Cabo San Lucas: Riu Palace Baja California (adults-only) is our pick, and the Los Cabos tourism board lists Medano, Chileno, Santa María and Palmilla among its swimmable beaches.
- Best value adults-only: Marquis Los Cabos (Kayak 8.7/10 from 717 ratings), with average rates from about $524 a night in September.
- Best for families: Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos in San José del Cabo (water slides, kids' club, averages from about $491 a night) or Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos for a splashier, newer resort.
- Cabo is desert-dry: Cabo San Lucas averages under 0.3 in of rain a month from November to July. Nearly all rain falls in August and September, the heart of hurricane season. Whale season runs December to April.
- Expect to pay more than in Cancun: our picks averaged roughly $220 to $1,900 a night on Kayak, and transfers are extra.
Our verdict
Our verdict: pick pools or pick the sea
Every Cabo decision starts with one question: do you need to swim in the ocean? If not, the Tourist Corridor has the best resorts in Mexico. Grand Velas Los Cabos is the one we would book for a splurge, with ocean-view suites above 1,100 square feet and Michelin-starred dining, and Le Blanc Los Cabos is our adults-only luxury pick. Marquis Los Cabos delivers a similar adults-only experience for roughly half the price.
If you do want to swim, base yourself on Medano Beach in Cabo San Lucas, where Riu Palace Baja California gives adults-only all-inclusive access to calm water and a short ride to the marina, Breathless adds a party scene, and Riu Santa Fe is the budget family option. Families should look first at Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos, close to the airport and San José del Cabo's old town, or Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos if the kids want slides and a newer resort, knowing that its beach is for looking at. Our picks are based on Tripadvisor, Kayak and Trip.com review patterns read in October 2026, official resort facts and published rates; we did not stay at these resorts for this guide.

Where to stay in Los Cabos: Cabo San Lucas vs the Corridor vs San José del Cabo
Los Cabos is two towns joined by a 20-mile coastal highway. Where you stay decides whether you can swim, walk to dinner or get to the airport quickly.
| Area | Transfer from SJD | Beach | Vibe | Our picks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cabo San Lucas: Medano Beach | 45–60 min | Calm, swimmable bay | Busy, boats, beach clubs, nightlife | Riu Palace Baja California |
| Cabo San Lucas: Pacific side and Diamante | 45–60 min | Huge surf, not swimmable | Dramatic sunsets, remote | Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos |
| Tourist Corridor | 25–35 min | Mostly rough; coves at Chileno, Santa María and Palmilla | Luxury, golf, quiet | Grand Velas, Le Blanc, Marquis, Paradisus |
| San José del Cabo | 15–20 min | Long beach, strong shore break | Art walk, old town, calmer | Hyatt Ziva, Secrets Puerto Los Cabos, Royal Solaris |
Cabo San Lucas is the party end of the peninsula, with the marina, El Arco boat trips and Medano Beach. The Corridor is where most luxury resorts sit, between the two towns, with golf courses and big ocean views. San José del Cabo is quieter, closer to the airport and has the historic center and Thursday-night art walk. For the bigger picture, see our Mexico all-inclusive guide.

Our take
Grand Velas Los Cabos is the most highly rated all-inclusive we found in Mexico: a perfect 5.0/5 from 2,500 Tripadvisor reviews, #1 of 93 hotels in Cabo San Lucas and a 2026 Best of the Best badge. Its official site says Tripadvisor named it the #1 luxury all-inclusive in Mexico for 2026, and it lists AAA Five Diamonds, Forbes Five-Star status and a Michelin star for Cocina de Autor. Every suite faces the Sea of Cortez and starts above 1,100 square feet, and the three-tier infinity pool, with an adults-only top level heated to 86 °F, is where you will spend your days.
The ocean is the trade-off. A September 2026 reviewer called the location spectacular "unless you have your heart set on swimming in the ocean." It is also very expensive: Kayak's average nightly rate never fell below about $1,369 over the past year, and one 2024 Kayak reviewer complained about extra charges. Transfers cost extra too. Book it for a milestone trip built around food, suites and pools.
Skip it if you want to swim in the sea or keep the week under $10,000.
Our category scores
Pros
- Tripadvisor 5.0/5, #1 in Cabo San Lucas

Cons
- Ocean not safe for swimming
- Average rates above $1,350 a night
- Transfers and some extras cost more

What guests say
Our stay at Grand Velas Los Cabos was simply exceptional and exceeded every expectation.
The location is spectacular, unless you have your heart set on swimming in the ocean.
The food we ordered by the pool had zero flavor

Our take
Le Blanc Los Cabos is the adults-only luxury resort we would book in Cabo. Tripadvisor rates it 4.8/5 from 3,859 reviews, #2 of 57 hotels in San José del Cabo, with a 2026 Best of the Best badge and 4.9 scores for rooms, service, cleanliness and sleep. Kayak users rate it 9.3/10, and Kayak's listing says it has seven restaurants, with the Lebanese restaurant singled out by guests. Butler service and a big spa are the core of the experience, and an October 2026 reviewer called the service "absolute perfection."
There are two drawbacks to plan around. The beach is not for swimming; a September 2026 guest said they took a taxi to Medano to get a good beach. And despite the all-inclusive price, some guests feel nickel-and-dimed by upgrades and extras, a theme in both a July 2026 Tripadvisor review and an older Kayak review about room upselling. Kayak's average rates ran from about $962 a night in August to $1,366 in February. For a quiet, service-first couples' week, it is excellent.
Skip it if you want to swim in the ocean or dislike upsell conversations.

3Best value adults-only
Marquis Los Cabos
Tourist Corridor
$524–$799 per night for two · Kayak 12-month average nightly rates (cheapest September, priciest February), seen Oct 2026
Our take
Marquis Los Cabos gives you most of the Corridor luxury experience at roughly half of Le Blanc's price. It is adults-only, all-inclusive and a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, according to its official site, with five restaurants, ocean-view suites with jet tubs and casitas with private plunge or rooftop pools. Tripadvisor rates it 4.7/5 from 7,403 reviews and Kayak users give it 8.7/10 from 717 ratings, with friendly staff, room service, the infinity pool and ceviche among the most-mentioned topics.
The usual Corridor caveat applies: older Kayak reviews say the water was too dangerous to swim, and one guest found the evening entertainment boring after 9 pm. Food is good rather than great. Kayak's average rates ran from about $524 a night in September to $799 in February, a big saving on Le Blanc or Grand Velas. It's made for a romantic, quiet week with stunning views; pay extra for a casita with a plunge pool.
Skip it if you want nightlife or a swimmable beach.
Our category scores
Pros
- Adults-only, Leading Hotels of the World member
- Ocean views from every suite; plunge-pool casitas

What guests say
This establishment is BEYOND beautiful, paradise on earth with excellent views of the ocean. The entertainment needs work, gets very boring after 9 pm.
The only problem was that you were not able to swim in the ocean. The water was too dangerous. But the beautiful pools made up for that.
The topics Kayak reviewers mention most are friendly staff, good food, room service, great service, ocean views and the infinity pool.

4Best swimmable beach
Hotel Riu Palace Baja California
Medano Beach, Cabo San Lucas
$343–$526 per night for two · Kayak 12-month average nightly rates (cheapest September, priciest March), seen Oct 2026
Our take
Riu Palace Baja California is our pick for adults who want to swim in the sea in Cabo. Riu's official site places it right on El Médano, the calm bay that the Los Cabos tourism board lists as swimmable, with 24-hour all-inclusive service, seven bars, a swim-up bar, a spa and Elite Club upgrade rooms. The Cabo San Lucas marina is about 4.5 km away, so beach clubs, boat trips to El Arco and nightlife are a short ride.
It is a big-chain resort rather than a luxury one, and its Tripadvisor average is a more modest 4.1/5 from 2,862 reviews, although Kayak users rate it 8.3/10 from 919 ratings. A March 2026 Tripadvisor reviewer praised excellent staff and good food and said the Palace category was worth paying extra for, but other guests complained that drink refills were not always delivered and that smoke from neighboring balconies bothered them. Riu says to allow about 60 minutes from the airport, and Kayak's average rates ran from about $343 a night in September to $526 in March, well below the Corridor resorts. Book it for an active, social beach week; book Le Blanc or Marquis for polish.
Skip it if you want luxury service or a quiet, secluded resort.
Our category scores
Pros
- On swimmable Medano Beach
- Adults-only, 24-hour all-inclusive
- Close to the marina and El Arco boat trips
- Lower prices than Corridor luxury resorts
Cons
- Tripadvisor 4.1/5, below our other adults-only picks
- Big-chain feel
- About an hour from the airport
- Adults-only
- Yes (official site)
- Beach
- El Médano, listed as swimmable by the Los Cabos tourism board
- Bars
- 7, 24-hour all-inclusive
- Transfer
- About 60 minutes from SJD (Riu)
What guests say
A March 2026 reviewer called the staff excellent and the food good, and said the Palace category was worth paying extra for.
Other recent guests complained that requests for drink refills were not always met and that smoke from neighboring balconies drifted in during the last days of their stay.
The food could have been better. Specialty restaurants were very subpar. Everything else was amazing!
5Best social adults-only
Breathless Cabo San Lucas
Medano Beach and marina, Cabo San Lucas
$513–$718 per night for two · Kayak 12-month average nightly rates (cheapest August, priciest February), seen Oct 2026
Our take
Breathless Cabo San Lucas is the adults-only all-inclusive for couples and friends who want energy, a swimmable beach and the marina on the doorstep. It sits between Medano Beach and the Cabo San Lucas marina, and the Los Cabos tourism board lists its Medano frontage as swimmable. Tripadvisor rates it 4.6/5 from 6,804 reviews, and an August 2026 reviewer singled out the water and the location; Kayak users give it 8.2/10 from 286 ratings, with a perfect 10 for location and 9.5 for service in Kayak's category scores.
Food is the clear weakness. Kayak's review summary praises the location, friendly staff, pools and entertainment but reports frequent complaints about food and restaurant service, its restaurant category score is very low, and a 2021 Kayak reviewer said the food was "far from what it once was." Expect party energy too, with an all-day pool scene and noise from the marina. Kayak's average rates ran from about $513 a night in August to $718 in February. Go for a fun, social week with the sea and the nightlife close by; Le Blanc or Marquis are the calmer choices.
Skip it if you want peace and quiet or great food.
Our category scores
Pros
- Swimmable Medano Beach frontage
- Walk to the marina, beach clubs and nightlife
- Kayak 10/10 for location
- Lively adults-only pools and entertainment
Cons
- Food is the weak point
- Party noise and marina bustle
- Not a quiet romantic escape
- Adults-only
- Yes
- Beach
- Medano, listed as swimmable by the Los Cabos tourism board
- Brand
- Breathless (Hyatt Inclusive Collection)
- Transfer
- About 45–60 minutes from SJD (about 22 miles, Kayak)
What guests say
An August 2026 reviewer said the water at the beach was the most gorgeous they had seen and called the location simply the best.
Kayak's review summary praises the location, friendly staff, pools and entertainment, but notes frequent complaints about food quality, restaurant service and breakfast variety.
The food is acceptable but far from what it once was at this property!
6Best for families

Our take
Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos is the family all-inclusive we would book in Cabo. It sits in San José del Cabo's hotel zone, roughly 15 to 20 minutes from the airport and a short taxi from the old town, and it is built for kids: water slides, a kiddie pool, a kids' zone, sports courts and nightly shows, per its Kayak listing. Tripadvisor rates it 4.4/5 from 14,320 reviews and Kayak users give it 8.7/10 from 732 ratings, with amazing staff, very good food, the pools and the swim-up bar among the most-mentioned topics.
The beach, like most in San José del Cabo, has a strong shore break; a 2018 Kayak reviewer said they could not swim in the ocean because it was too dangerous, and some older reviews mention restaurants closing at random. Kayak's average rates ran from about $491 a night in September to $752 in March, reasonable for Cabo. Treat it as a pool-based family week close to the airport, and take the kids to Playa Palmilla or Chileno Bay for a sea swim.
Skip it if you want an adults-only atmosphere or to swim in the sea.
Our category scores

Our take
Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos is the newest and most high-energy family all-inclusive on this list. It opened in 2019 with 639 rooms, according to Trip.com, and the resort lists eight restaurants, an Ultimate All-Inclusive package with room service and nightly entertainment, and resort credits. It won a Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice award for 2026 and rates 4.5/5 from 9,677 Tripadvisor reviews, while Trip.com guests give it 8.4/10. A July 2026 Trip.com reviewer called the breakfast team, pool bar servers, housekeeping and kids' club staff exceptional.
The location is the big compromise. It sits on the Pacific side at Diamante, about an hour from the airport and well away from town, and the resort itself says it is not safe for guests to swim in the ocean. An April 2025 reviewer also woke up to a large construction site outside the window, so ask for a room facing away from new development. Kayak's average rates ran from about $496 a night in September to $802 in December. Book it if your family wants big pools, music and activities and doesn't need a walkable town.
Skip it if you want to walk to restaurants or swim in the sea.

8Best adults-only for golfers
Secrets Puerto Los Cabos
Puerto Los Cabos, San José del Cabo
$446–$706 per night for two · Kayak 12-month average nightly rates (cheapest August, priciest February), seen Oct 2026
Our take
Secrets Puerto Los Cabos is the adults-only all-inclusive we would pick for golfers and couples who want to be close to the airport and San José del Cabo. It sits in the Puerto Los Cabos marina development, about 7 miles from SJD according to Kayak, which lists 500 suites with balconies or patios and spa tubs, and two nearby golf courses. Kayak users rate it 8.5/10 from 265 ratings, with a perfect 10 for service in Kayak's category scores.
Kayak's review summary says most guests highlight outstanding, friendly staff and the variety of restaurants, breakfast and room service, but some were disappointed with pool cleanliness, restaurant staffing and value for money. As in the rest of San José del Cabo, the beach has a strong shore break and is not for swimming. Kayak's average rates ran from about $446 a night in August to $706 in February, often less than Marquis. It's a golf, service and easy-logistics resort rather than a sea-swimming one.
Skip it if you want a lively beach or to walk into the sea.
Our category scores
Pros
- Adults-only, close to the airport
- Excellent service scores
- Golf on the doorstep
- Rates often under Marquis
Cons

- Pool cleanliness and value complaints
- Vacation-club pitch common at Secrets resorts

9Best Corridor resort for a swim
Paradisus Los Cabos
Tourist Corridor (Km 19.5)
$519–$729 per night for two · Kayak 12-month average nightly rates (cheapest September, priciest February), seen Oct 2026
Our take
Paradisus Los Cabos is a large Meliá resort on 18.5 acres of the Corridor, now sold as adults-only on both Tripadvisor and Kayak. It is one of the few Corridor all-inclusives where Kayak reviewers mention a swimmable beach, and its Gastro Bar is overseen by Spanish chef Martín Berasategui, according to Kayak's listing. Tripadvisor rates it 4.6/5 from 5,374 reviews, while Kayak users give it a lower 7.8/10 from 483 ratings.
That gap is explained by service. Kayak's review summary praises the pool, location and cleanliness but notes inconsistent or slow service at the pool and restaurants, problems getting restaurant reservations and complaints that the all-inclusive package did not cover everything guests expected; its category scores for service and restaurants are low. Kayak's average rates ran from about $519 a night in September to $729 in February. We would book it if a Corridor location with a chance to swim matters more than polished service, and we would read the latest reviews first.
Skip it if service consistency is your top priority.
Our category scores
Pros
- Reviewers mention a swimmable beach
- Big pools and grounds (18.5 acres)
- Royal Service upgrade with butler
- Rates below Le Blanc and Grand Velas
Cons
- Inconsistent service in reviews

- Restaurant availability issues

- Grounds
- 18.5 acres (Kayak)

What guests say
Kayak's review summary says guests praised the pool, the beautiful location and cleanliness, and 'swimmable beach' is one of the most-mentioned topics.
Several reviews note slow or inattentive service at the pool and restaurants, trouble with restaurant availability and an all-inclusive package that did not cover everything expected.
10Best budget
Royal Solaris Los Cabos
San José del Cabo hotel zone
$249–$442 per night for two · Kayak 12-month average nightly rates (cheapest September, priciest December), seen Oct 2026
Our take
Royal Solaris Los Cabos is the cheapest beachfront all-inclusive we would consider in Cabo, and it is honest about what it is: a 390-room family resort in San José del Cabo with a mini water park, kids' clubs and nightly shows, according to its Kayak listing. Kayak's average rates ran from about $249 a night in September to $442 in December, a fraction of the Corridor resorts, and it is only about 7.5 miles from the airport. Kayak users rate it 7.9/10 from 1,170 ratings.
You get what you pay for. Kayak's review summary says many guests reported unfriendly or inefficient service, cleanliness problems, outdated rooms and maintenance issues, alongside praise for the location and breakfast, and older reviewers mention timeshare pitches and a fast-food-heavy snack bar. The beach has the same shore break as the rest of San José del Cabo. It works as a cheap, simple family base in Cabo if you plan to spend money on excursions instead.
Skip it if you expect resort polish or good food.

11Best budget family beach
Hotel Riu Santa Fe
Medano Beach, Cabo San Lucas
$218–$393 per night for two · Kayak 12-month average nightly rates (cheapest September, priciest March), seen Oct 2026
Our take
Riu Santa Fe is the cheapest way to put a family on a swimmable beach in Cabo. It is a huge, 24-hour all-inclusive at the foot of El Médano with the Splash Water World water park, ten pools (five with swim-up bars), 12 restaurants and 13 bars, according to Riu, and Kayak's listing counts more than 1,000 rooms. Kayak's average nightly rates ran from about $218 in September to $393 in March, the lowest of any resort on this page, and Kayak users rate it 8.0/10 from 1,953 ratings.
It is a value resort with value-resort problems. Its Tripadvisor average is only 3.8/5 from 13,369 reviews, and Kayak's review summary mentions slow housekeeping, unfriendly staff in places and maintenance issues such as air-conditioning outages, alongside praise for the location, amenities and breakfast. Riu also flags student and spring break groups on its site, so avoid March if you want a family atmosphere. Choose it for a budget family week where the beach, the water park and the price matter more than polish.
Skip it if you want a quiet resort or are traveling during spring break.

Pros & cons
Los Cabos: why go, why not
Reasons to go
- Some of the highest-rated all-inclusives in Mexico
- Desert-dry weather from November to July
- Short nonstop flights from the West Coast
- Whale watching from December to April
- No sargassum seaweed
Reasons to think twice
- Most resort beaches are not safe for swimming
- Higher prices than Cancun or Puerto Vallarta
- Long transfers to Cabo San Lucas and Diamante
- Hurricane risk from August to October
- Many famous luxury hotels are not all-inclusive
Which Cabo all-inclusive resorts have swimmable beaches?
This is the most important question on this page. Los Cabos faces open water where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific, and many resort beaches drop steeply into a powerful shore break. Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos says plainly on its official site that it is not safe for guests to swim in the ocean there, and recent Tripadvisor reviewers at Le Blanc Los Cabos and Grand Velas Los Cabos say the same about their beaches.
The Los Cabos tourism board's swimmable beaches page points to these instead:
- Playa El Médano (Cabo San Lucas): a long, sheltered bay. The board lists the Medano frontage of Breathless, Casa Dorada, ME Cabo, Pueblo Bonito, Pueblo Bonito Rosé, Villa del Arco, Villa del Palmar, Villa La Estancia, Riu Palace and Riu Santa Fe.
- Chileno and Santa María (Corridor): protected coves with reef snorkeling, reached by car from Corridor resorts.
- Playa Palmilla (km 27.5): shallow, calm water that the board calls ideal for families.
All-inclusives on or near Medano Beach
- Riu Palace Baja California: adults-only, 24-hour all-inclusive, on El Médano according to Riu. Our pick below.
- Breathless Cabo San Lucas: an adults-only, social resort between Medano and the marina, rated 4.6/5 from 6,804 reviews on Tripadvisor in October 2026; reviewed below.
- Riu Santa Fe: our budget family pick, with a water park on the same beach (reviewed below); the family-friendly Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas is next door.
- Pueblo Bonito Rosé and Casa Dorada: Medano resorts that sell all-inclusive plans; Pueblo Bonito describes its deluxe all-inclusive plans on its official site.

Best adults-only all-inclusive resorts in Cabo
Cabo is one of the best places in Mexico for adults-only all-inclusives, and the choice comes down to budget and swimming.
| Resort | Area | Kayak avg. nightly rate | Swimmable beach? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Le Blanc Los Cabos | Corridor | $962–$1,366 | No |
| Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos (79 suites) | Corridor | $1,357–$1,813 | No |
| Marquis Los Cabos | Corridor | $524–$799 | No |
| Paradisus Los Cabos | Corridor | $519–$729 | Reviewers say yes |
| Secrets Puerto Los Cabos | San José del Cabo | $446–$706 | No |
| Riu Palace Baja California | Medano | $343–$526 | Yes |
| Breathless Cabo San Lucas | Medano and marina | $513–$718 | Yes |
Prices are Kayak's cheapest and most expensive monthly averages over the past 12 months, seen in October 2026. Le Blanc is the pick for butler-level service, Marquis for value with dramatic suites and plunge-pool casitas, Riu Palace Baja California if you want to walk into the sea on a budget, and Breathless if you want the same beach with a party atmosphere. Paradisus Los Cabos now markets itself as adults-only, and Kayak reviewers mention a swimmable beach there, though its service scores are the weakest of the group. More choices across Mexico and the Caribbean are in our adults-only guide.
Best family all-inclusive resorts in Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo
Cabo is less family-oriented than Cancun or Puerto Vallarta, and its rough surf means kids will mostly swim in pools. These are the family all-inclusives we would consider:
- Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos (San José del Cabo): water slides, a kids' zone and nightly shows, about 15 to 20 minutes from the airport. Kayak averages ran from about $491 to $752 a night.
- Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos (Diamante, Pacific side): opened in 2019 with 639 rooms and eight restaurants, according to Trip.com and the resort; Trip.com reviewers in 2026 praised the kids' club and pool staff. It is far from town, about an hour from the airport.
- Grand Velas Los Cabos: the luxury family option, with kids' and teens' clubs and huge suites.
- Royal Solaris Los Cabos: the budget pick in San José del Cabo, with a mini water park and kids' clubs, averaging about $249 to $442 a night on Kayak.
- Garza Blanca Resort & Spa Los Cabos: a family-friendly suites resort that sells an optional all-inclusive plan and runs a members' club, per its official site.
If a swimmable beach matters for the kids, book Riu Santa Fe (Kayak averages from about $218 a night, with the Splash Water World water park) or Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas on Medano Beach, or you can take a day trip to Playa Palmilla or Chileno Bay. Our family all-inclusive guide has more options.
Luxury all-inclusive in Los Cabos (and the resorts that are not all-inclusive)
Los Cabos has more five-star hotels than anywhere else in Mexico, but many of the most famous are not all-inclusive. One&Only Palmilla, Esperanza, Waldorf Astoria Pedregal, Montage, Chileno Bay and Solaz are sold room-only or with breakfast. Viceroy Los Cabos appears with an all-inclusive label on some booking sites, but Kayak reviewers complain about the cost of food and drinks, so check exactly what your rate covers.
The true luxury all-inclusives are Grand Velas Los Cabos, its adults-only sister Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos (79 suites, according to its Kayak listing), Le Blanc Los Cabos, Zoëtry Casa del Mar (Kayak 8.8/10) and Marquis Los Cabos, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.
Hilton Los Cabos is a common question. It is a beach and golf resort with an optional all-inclusive plan: a Pleasant Holidays listing shows "All-Inclusive Plan Available", and Hilton's own Mexico beach page does not tag it as all-inclusive. Pueblo Bonito and Garza Blanca work the same way, with all-inclusive plans you can add. See our luxury all-inclusive guide for the top picks across Mexico and the Caribbean.
Best time to visit Cabo: whale season and Pacific weather
November to May is the best time for a Cabo all-inclusive. Cabo San Lucas gets almost no rain in those months (0.0 to 0.7 in a month, per Servicio Meteorológico Nacional 1991–2020 normals) and highs run from about 80 °F in January to 90 °F in June. Mornings and evenings can feel cool in January and February, with lows around 55 °F.
- Whale season: gray and humpback whales are best seen from December through April, according to Visit Los Cabos. Whale sharks also visit local waters in the same months.
- Summer: July to October are the hottest months, with average highs of 92 to 95 °F.
- Storm season: the eastern Pacific hurricane season runs May 15 to November 30, with a peak in late August, per NOAA. Cabo San Lucas averages about 3.4 in of rain in August and 4.3 in in September, almost all of its annual total.
What 2026 looked like
It was a busy Pacific season. In late September 2026, Tripadvisor's Cabo forum was tracking Hurricane Polo offshore, and one traveler asked the forum for last-minute alternatives because the forecast looked bad. In October, Hurricane Simon closed Puerto Vallarta's airport for two days but stayed offshore. If you book for August to October, buy travel insurance early and choose a refundable rate.

Cabo costs, flights and transfers
Cabo is pricier than the Caribbean side. Kayak's 12-month average nightly rates for two at our picks ran from about $218 (Riu Santa Fe in September) and $249 (Royal Solaris) up to $1,928 (Grand Velas Los Cabos in February). The cheapest month at most resorts was September, the wettest; the most expensive were February, March and December.
Flights: Los Cabos International (SJD) has nonstops from most big US hubs, about 2.5 hours from Los Angeles, 2.5 to 3 hours from Dallas and Houston, 4 to 4.5 hours from Chicago and roughly 6 hours from New York.
Transfers: rarely included. Grand Velas Los Cabos lists private SUVs at $340 round trip on its official site; shared shuttles are cheaper. Riu says to allow about 60 minutes from SJD to its Medano hotels.
Extras: tips, spa treatments, premium wine, golf and boat trips. Quintana Roo's Visitax does not apply here. Tipping customs are the same as elsewhere in Mexico: small cash tips daily, ideally in pesos.

Is Cabo safe for an all-inclusive vacation?
Baja California Sur, home to Los Cabos, is at Level 2, Exercise Increased Caution, in the U.S. State Department's Mexico advisory, which was reissued on May 29, 2026 according to the State Department's advisory feed. That is the same level as Mexico overall and the same as Quintana Roo. The advisory asks U.S. citizens to avoid driving between cities after dark and to use regulated taxis or apps rather than hailing cabs on the street.
For resort guests the practical risks are mostly ocean safety, overpriced taxis and aggressive timeshare sales. Use resort transport at night, agree taxi fares before you get in, and swim only where the flags and the tourism board say it is safe. Our Mexico guide compares advisory levels across every resort state.
Mistakes to avoid when booking a Cabo all-inclusive
- Assuming every beach is swimmable. Most Corridor and Pacific-side resort beaches are not. Book Medano if that matters.
- Booking a 'luxury hotel' and expecting all-inclusive. One&Only, Esperanza, Waldorf Astoria and Montage are not all-inclusive; Hilton, Pueblo Bonito and Garza Blanca sell optional plans.
- Underestimating distances. Cabo San Lucas resorts are 45 to 60 minutes from the airport; Hard Rock's Diamante location is about an hour.
- Skipping whale season. If you can travel December to April, a whale-watching trip is one of the best things to do in Mexico.
- Booking August to October without insurance. This is peak hurricane season on the Pacific.

What travel-forum regulars say
Travel-forum consensus
Regulars on Tripadvisor's Cabo and Pacific Mexico forums spent September and October 2026 talking about two things: weather and water. When one traveler's late-September Cabo trip was threatened by bad weather, forum members steered them to destinations with calmer, warmer water, with Huatulco the most recommended and Isla Mujeres close behind, a reminder that Cabo is not the place for easy ocean swimming. In October, Pacific forum regulars watching a developing storm noted that it had been a very active eastern Pacific season but that most storms had tracked west, away from the coast, and pointed travelers to the National Hurricane Center for forecasts. The consistent advice: book Cabo for the scenery, pools and food; book Medano or a cove day trip if you want to swim; and check the NHC before an August to October trip.
Huatulco has less lodging options, less restaurants options, there are crocodiles
Huatulco is very calm.
Pacific Mexico regulars said a developing October 2026 storm was moving west, away from the coast, called it a very active eastern Pacific season and recommended following the National Hurricane Center.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is the best all-inclusive resort in Cabo?
Grand Velas Los Cabos is our top pick: a perfect 5.0/5 from 2,500 Tripadvisor reviews, ocean-view suites over 1,100 square feet and a Michelin-starred restaurant. For adults-only, Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos (4.8/5) is the luxury choice and Marquis Los Cabos the value one. If you want to swim in the sea, choose a Medano Beach resort such as Riu Palace Baja California.
Which Cabo all-inclusive resorts have swimmable beaches?
The resorts on Medano Beach in Cabo San Lucas. The Los Cabos tourism board lists the Medano beachfronts of Breathless, Riu Palace, Riu Santa Fe, Casa Dorada, ME Cabo, Pueblo Bonito, Pueblo Bonito Rosé, Villa del Arco, Villa del Palmar and Villa La Estancia as swimmable. On the Corridor, the coves at Chileno and Santa María and Playa Palmilla are safe for swimming, but most Corridor resort beaches are not.
What are the best adults-only all-inclusive resorts in Cabo?
Le Blanc Los Cabos for luxury and butler service, Marquis Los Cabos for value with plunge-pool casitas, Riu Palace Baja California for a swimmable Medano beach, Secrets Puerto Los Cabos for golfers near the airport, and Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos, a 79-suite adults-only sister to Grand Velas. Breathless Cabo San Lucas, on Medano, is the most social option.
What are the best family all-inclusive resorts in Cabo San Lucas?
Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos, with water slides and a kids' zone 15 to 20 minutes from the airport, is our first choice. Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos suits families with teens who want big pools and activities, though it is about an hour from the airport. Grand Velas Los Cabos is the luxury option. On a budget, Riu Santa Fe puts you on swimmable Medano Beach with a water park, while Royal Solaris Los Cabos is close to the airport. Elsewhere, kids will mostly swim in pools.
Should I stay in Cabo San Lucas or San José del Cabo?
Stay in Cabo San Lucas for Medano Beach, the marina, boat trips and nightlife, accepting a 45 to 60 minute airport transfer. Stay in San José del Cabo for a quieter base, a 15 to 20 minute transfer and the old town's restaurants and art walk. The Tourist Corridor in between has the most luxurious all-inclusives but is car-dependent and its beaches are mostly not swimmable.
When is whale season in Cabo?
December through April, according to Visit Los Cabos, when gray and humpback whales migrate through local waters. Whale sharks also appear in the same months. January to March is the most reliable period and also peak season for resort prices, so book whale-season trips several months ahead.
Is Cabo safe in 2026?
Baja California Sur is at Level 2, Exercise Increased Caution, in the U.S. State Department's Mexico advisory reissued on May 29, 2026, the same level as Mexico overall. For resort guests the main risks are ocean conditions, overpriced taxis and timeshare pressure. Use resort or pre-booked transport, avoid driving between towns after dark and swim only where the flags say it is safe.
Is Hilton Los Cabos all-inclusive?
Not by default. Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort offers an optional all-inclusive plan; a Pleasant Holidays listing shows 'All-Inclusive Plan Available' and Hilton's own Mexico beach page does not tag it as all-inclusive. Pueblo Bonito and Garza Blanca also sell optional all-inclusive plans. Always check what your rate includes before you book.
Is Cabo more expensive than Cancun?
Usually, yes. Kayak's average nightly rates at our Cabo picks ran from about $218 to $1,928, and even mid-range resorts like Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos averaged about $491 to $752. Cancun has far more budget and mid-range all-inclusives. Cabo's cheapest month is typically September, during hurricane season, while February, March and December are the most expensive.
